"I'll surrender." The words hung in the air like an undeniable truth, and all three pairs of eyes stared at Jungkook as if he'd just spoken in an alien language.
"Jungkook, you can't do that!" Taehyung's voice broke the silence, his gaze bouncing between Sri and JK in disbelief, the weight of his words pressing down on them.
"I know what I'm doing," Jungkook replied calmly. His hand fell on Tae's shoulder, giving it a reassuring squeeze. "You need to get out of here. I'll have their attention."
"I can't let you go to jail after everything you've done for me, for my child! Sri, you've got to say something!" the doctor's voice cracked with desperation. Sri stood still, her face hard as stone, blood still staining her skin from Jongki's demise. Her fists clenched at her sides.
"Don't mistake my duty for favor, Kim Taehyung. You're my family; Taesoo is my niece. There's nothing more to say."
His words hit Taehyung like a slap, and his mouth closed in stunned silence. "Sorry," he muttered, the anger fading from his face.
Jungkook turned his gaze to his sister. She had been staring at him with that unreadable expression, her emotions carefully concealed behind her hardened exterior. "Don't worry, Noona," he said quietly, meeting her eyes. "Titans will keep ruling the underworld."
Sri's jaw tightened. Her lips parted as she gave a stiff nod. "I believe in you, JK." She met her brother's gaze, and for a moment, the weight of everything they had endured together settled between them. Despite the bloodshed, despite the pain, there was trust in her words. Trust in his judgment, in his resolve, in the path he had chosen.
She wrapped her arms around him and whispered, "Take care, Kookie." She then turned, her eyes hardening once more, and walked out of the building with Taehyung by her side.
Jimin stood in place, still stunned by the decision, but as his mind processed it, a strange sense of clarity washed over him. He didn't question JK's choice. After all, it was his decision.Jungkook's decision to surrender wasn't just a sacrifice—it was his way of ensuring that Sri could finally have a chance to be free of the past. After everything she had done to protect him, how could he not? She had shielded him when no one else would, and now it was his turn to protect her, to make sure she could live the life she deserved—one of peace, not one of violence and fear.
"Jimin, go after her. Make sure the three of them leave the country safely." Jungkook's voice broke through the silence again, and Jimin was taken aback by the unexpected instruction. Jimin's jaw dropped as his boss continued, "Sherly is already in their custody. I'll be surrendering. Someone has to take care of things while I'm gone."
"But Kook... how can I?" Jimin trailed off, struggling to find the words to protest.
"It won't be long until I'm back." Jungkook smirked at his companion, the playful yet confident glint in his eyes returning.
