The next day, I managed to persuade Walker to convince his parents to visit the Brooklyn Bridge. We spent the day exploring, snapping photos, and enjoying some snacks and coffee from local vendors.
"How does it feel to be on screen tomorrow?" I asked Walker, sipping my coffee.
"Actually, I'm excited," Walker replied, looking forward to his on-screen appearance.
"Do you have any acting experience?" Leena asked.
"I used to do plays in elementary school, and I did a couple of commercials for a soap brand," I shared with a laugh. I showed them the video on my phone.
"Do you plan on acting in movies?" Walker asked.
"I wish. I don't really know where to start, but I'm hopeful," I admitted. Walker smiled encouragingly.
"It's getting dark; let's head back to the hotel," Walker's mom suggested.
After returning to the hotel and taking a short break, I focused on editing my vlog when Layla called.
"Rory, you didn't tell me you met Walker Scobell!" Layla exclaimed.
"Layla, calm down; he's asleep," I replied.
Layla continued, "Do you know how big this is? You need to post about it immediately. And why are you with him? Are you two, like, a thing now?"
I rolled my eyes. "Layla, we're just friends. I'm not into flaunting things on social media."
She scoffed, "Friends or not, you can't just hang out with someone like him without people talking."
I sighed, already anticipating the drama. "Layla, it's not like that. We're just having a good time in NYC."
She huffed, "Well, good luck keeping it drama-free."
After finishing up my laptop work, I took a shower and began getting ready. When I reached for my straightener, it was nowhere to be found. I searched everywhere— the bathroom, under the bed, even in my tote bag— but it was missing.
"Leena, did you use my straightener?" I asked.
"No, I didn't even know you had one," she replied.
It dawned on me that I had forgotten to pack it. Groaning, I sat on the bed with my head in my hands.
"I forgot my straightener. I can't walk around with my hair messy like this," I lamented.
Leena and Walker exchanged a glance. Leena smiled and suggested, "How about I use a blow dryer for a quick blowout? It'll look great."
Leena worked her magic on my hair, and then we headed to The Edge. As we approached, Walker's excitement was palpable.
"This is going to be awesome! You'll get a breathtaking view of the city," Walker said.
As we ascended, Leena asked, "Have you ever been to a place like this before, Rory?"
I shook my head, "No, never. I'm so excited to see the city from up here."
We spent time enjoying the stunning views and capturing memorable moments. I exclaimed, "This is going to be the highlight of our trip!" Afterward, we grabbed dinner at Raising Cane's, enjoying a delicious meal together.
Back at the hotel, I edited the remaining footage for my vlog. Exhausted from the day's activities, I eventually drifted off to sleep.
