As Leanne and I settled in to eat, I noticed her looking a bit anxious.
"Hey, Leanne, are you okay with staying over?" I asked, trying to gauge her mood. "It's getting late, and I know your brother's been sick."
Leanne sighed, looking down at her food. "Actually, my parents are still at the hospital with my brother. They've been there all day, and now there's been an issue with the hospital's facilities. They can't get home tonight, so I thought it'd be better if I stayed here."
"I'm really sorry to hear that," I said sympathetically. "That sounds really tough."
"Yeah, it's been a rough day," she admitted. "I just didn't want to be alone at home without anyone to talk to."
"I'm glad you're here," I said, giving her a reassuring smile. "We can focus on your self-tape and try to make the best of the evening."
Leanne looked relieved. "Thanks for understanding. It means a lot."
We continued eating, chatting about lighter topics to keep our minds off the stress. After dinner, we got to work on her self-tape.
"Let's get everything set up," I said, guiding her to my desk where we had already prepared the filming equipment. We worked through the setup while discussing the lines and scenes, making sure everything was perfect.
Leanne was in high spirits despite her situation, and her enthusiasm for the self-tape process helped lift the mood. We ordered McDonald's, which arrived just in time for us to take a short break and enjoy some comfort food.
Once we were ready, we started filming. The process took a bit of time as we went through multiple takes, but we finally got a perfect one.
"That's a wrap!" I said, relieved. "We did it."
Leanne beamed. "Thanks for your help, Rory. I couldn't have done this without you."
"No problem at all," I replied. "I'm just glad to be here for you. If you need anything else, just let me know."
As the evening went on, we finished up our skincare routine and settled on my floor with our snacks. Despite the tough day, having Leanne around made things feel a bit better. We laughed and chatted about random things, finding comfort in each other's company.
The night ended with a sense of camaraderie and a feeling of having turned a difficult day into something positive, thanks to our support for one another.
A/n ugh how much I'm excited for the next few chapters.
Also I may start making longer chapters.
But I will see!
