The Last Stand

Chapter 16

The obstacle course was homemade, but was pretty impressive for a homemade one.

Tony and Clint had set it up, so of course that made everyone weary.

Clint had set up half, while Tony did the other half, making the course expand across the whole training room...which was pretty big.

The idea was it to be a kind of relay race, where the teams are at one end, and two people from both teams race against each other to get to the other end of the room. Then we would stop, reset the course, and then the next two people would go.

Easy, right? Right.

We, of course, had the same teams as the water fight, but this time, we could pick the people we wanted to go against. 

It was Tony against Steve, Clint against Natasha, Jake against Blake, Thor against Lena, me against Peter, and Bruce was the person who would reset the course, because apparently he was "sore" from the last game.

"Alright. So, you run up to these," Tony pointed to two tubes, "crawl through them, then you go to these." He paused, gesturing to two planks that were set between two large platforms.

"You jump off the platform, running to the wall of doom!" Leave it to Tony to make an explanation of an obstacle course dramatic.

"Climb it, simple as that. Then you swing from this rope to that rope, slide across the yoga balls, first one to pull the rope wins." He finished explaining, pointing to a pair of ropes a couple of feet away from each other, a pair for both teams, two rows of about 6 yoga balls, and then two different ropes at the end of the course.

"Alright! Who's up first?" The two teams quietly conversed, trying to find out who would go first.

"I guess me and Thor can go!" Lena exclaimed, raising her hand. This earned her a round of applause from everyone.

They would have to go against each other, even if they were on the same team, because Bruce couldn't play.

They both positioned themselves at the starting line, waiting for the signal to go.

"Rules are: No pushing, no foul language, overall...no cheating." Steve said, sternly, looking at all of us.

"Yeah... Lena and Tasha are going to break that 'no foul language' rule." I replied, leaning against a rack of weapons.

"Okay! Let's get this show on the road, instead of talking about us while we're right here. Come on!" We all laughed at Lena's reply, mostly because she sent a very...interesting hand gesture at both of us. 

When I say 'interesting hand gesture', I mean she flipped us off.

"Ready?" Steve asked, looking at Lena then at Thor, who, I had just now noticed, had on a regular white tee-shirt and pants.

Steve blew his whistle, and they both were off. 

To say it was amusing to see Thor go through the little tunnels, was an understatement. 

"Come on, Thor! I don't want to pay for the enemy's dinner! Wait... Lena and Thor are both on my team...so that means whoever wins this round, it's still a point for my team no matter what! HA!" I glared at Tony, as he looked over at me with wide, innocent eyes, and doing some stupid dance.

"Yeah, yeah. Do me a favor, go f-" My rather vulgar sentence was cut off by a whistle blowing.

While Tony and I had been talking, more like threatening each other, Thor and Lena had already finished.

"One point for Tony's team! Obviously. Next is.....Clint and Natasha." Bruce stated, walking onto the course and fixing it up, setting everything where it was supposed to go.

"Audry." Turning my head, I saw Steve looking at me with a mock disappointed expression on.

"Language."
