City of Dreams

A city of dreams,
A city of anything and everything.

Seas no longer separate the lands,
For ships conquer the once feared waters.
The sky is no longer out of reach,
For even the stars are at one's fingertips.

The nights are not to be feared,
For even in the dark, the city lights never sleep.
Yet in the deep night, among the tall towers,
A shadow stands behind; cold and still alive in the least.

A grim nightmare,
In stark contrast to the simple dream
Bathing in light up in the clouds.
It is a life far from the comfort of easiness.

To the life at the bottom of this tall city,
Privilege is a language they understand
But cannot speak.
The weight of it all, they carry on their shoulder.

Still, it is a life that belongs in this city.
A city we built with our own hands:
A city of dreams,
Where everything, maybe anything, or nothing at all.
