Chapter 21: The Blood Moon's Effect
The tranquility of the night was shattered by a loud noise coming from the living room. Tom and Odette exchanged a worried glance. The sound was unexpected, jarring. Tom was on his feet in an instant, his protective instincts kicking in.
"Stay here, Odette," he instructed, his voice firm. But Odette was already shaking her head, her hand gripping his.
"We're in this together, remember?" she reminded him, her voice laced with determination. With a nod, they ventured out of the room together, heading towards the source of the noise.
What they found in the living room was a sight neither of them expected. Bill, Gustav, and George, their friends, were hunched over, their fangs sunk into the necks of humans. The sight was horrifying, a stark reminder of the harsh reality of their existence.
The blood moon, a rare event that affected all vampires, had taken hold of them. It was a time when their thirst for blood became uncontrollable, a primal need that had to be satiated. Tom had managed to control his thirst, thanks to Odette, but it seemed their friends weren't as fortunate.
Tom felt a surge of anger and disappointment. They were his friends, his family, but this... this was unacceptable. He stepped forward, his voice loud and commanding, "Stop!"
The sound of his voice echoed in the room, bringing an abrupt halt to the gruesome scene. They turned to look at him, their eyes glowing a fiery red, mirroring the crimson moon outside.
The room was filled with tension, a silent standoff between friends. Odette clung to Tom, her heart pounding in her chest. She knew they were in a dangerous situation, but she also knew they had to help their friends, just like they had helped each other.
As they stood there, in the crimson-lit room, they knew they had a battle ahead of them. A battle not against each other, but against the beast within them. And they were ready to fight, for their humanity, for their love, for their future._____________________________________
The living room had turned into a battlefield. Tom was in the center, his eyes still glowing a bright red, his body moving with a speed and agility that was inhuman. He was fighting his friends, trying to bring them back to their senses, trying to stop the madness that the blood moon had unleashed.
Amidst the chaos, Bill managed to break away from the fight. His eyes fell on Odette, standing by the doorway, her face pale with fear. He knew he had to get her to safety, away from the madness that was unfolding.
"Odette, come with me," he said, his voice barely audible over the noise. He grabbed her hand, leading her away from the living room, away from the fight.
They entered the library, a room filled with books and silence, a stark contrast to the chaos outside. Bill led her to a corner, a place where she could hide, where she could be safe.
"Stay here, Odette," he instructed, his voice firm. "I'll go back and help Tom."
Odette nodded, her hands instinctively moving to her belly. She was scared, not for herself, but for her baby, for Tom. She watched as Bill left the room, leaving her alone in the silence of the library.
Back in the living room, the fight continued. Tom was holding his own against Gustav and George, his moves precise and calculated. He was not just fighting his friends, he was fighting for Odette, for their baby, for their future.
As the night wore on, the fight raged on. The blood moon cast its crimson glow, a silent witness to the battle within. It was a night of chaos and fear, but also a night of courage and love. And as dawn approached, they knew that no matter what, they would face the new day together, as a family.
