Chapter 36: A Morning Surprise

The first rays of the sun were just beginning to peek through the curtains as Asteria stirred from her slumber. She rubbed her eyes sleepily, a yawn escaping her lips. As she swung her legs over the side of the bed, her foot hit something hard. Startled, she looked down and saw a beautifully wrapped gift box.

Surprised and curious, Asteria picked up the box, shaking it gently. The sound of something small and light shifting inside piqued her curiosity. She quickly ran to her parents' room, clutching the mystery gift.

"Wake up, Tom, Odette!" she called, jumping on their bed. Tom groaned and rolled over, while Odette sat up, rubbing her eyes.

"What is it, sweetie?" Odette asked, her voice still thick with sleep.

"Look, a gift!" Asteria exclaimed, thrusting the box into her mother's hands.

Odette frowned, "Where did this come from?"

As she examined the gift, she noticed a small envelope attached to the box. Pulling it free, she read the name written in elegant script, "Victoriana". A smile spread across her face, "Mother," she whispered.

Asteria, who had been watching her mother closely, asked, "Mom, who is Victoriana?"

Odette turned to her daughter, her smile softening, "She's my mother, and she is your grandma," she explained.

Asteria's eyes widened in excitement, a grin spreading across her face. Tom, who had been watching the exchange, also smiled, happy to see the joy in his family's faces. The morning had indeed brought a delightful surprise.

As the room filled with the excitement of the unexpected gift, Asteria and Odette began to unwrap the box. The rustle of the wrapping paper filled the room, creating a symphony of suspense that had all their hearts beating faster.

Tom, who had been watching the duo, noticed something gleaming from the corner of his eye. He turned his attention to it and found a red crystal lying on the floor. It was as if it had been waiting to be discovered.

"Odette, I found a red crystal," Tom announced, holding it up to the light. The crystal shimmered, casting a beautiful glow around the room.

Odette took the crystal from Tom, her brows furrowed in confusion. Why would her mother send her a crystal? She decided to ponder on it later and placed the crystal on the table next to the lamp.

Meanwhile, Asteria had discovered her own treasure in the box. "Wow, mom, dad, look! I found a teddy bear!" she exclaimed, pulling out a cute, fluffy teddy bear. She hugged it tightly, her face beaming with joy.

Tom and Odette couldn't help but smile at Asteria's jubilant discovery. Her happiness was infectious, and it warmed their hearts to see her so thrilled.

As they continued to explore the contents of the box, Odette found a beautiful red dress. The fabric was soft and luxurious, and the design was elegant. "Wow, I like this dress," she said, holding it up against her.

Tom smirked, his eyes twinkling with amusement, "It suits you." His comment made Odette blush, adding a touch of color to her cheeks. The day had started with a surprise, and it seemed the surprises were far from over.

Just when they thought they had uncovered all the surprises from the gift box, Odette's hand brushed against something hard. She pulled it out, revealing a book with a violet cover and gold design. Her eyes widened in surprise and she jumped up in excitement, startling Tom and Asteria.

"Mom, why do you look so excited and happy?" Asteria asked, her eyes wide with curiosity.

Odette turned to her daughter, her smile wider than ever, "You know, sweetheart, this is mommy's dream to have this book and I finally have it." Her voice was filled with joy and disbelief. She had always yearned for this book, and now it was in her hands.

Tom watched Odette's reaction with a knowing smile. He had seen her longing for this book in the past. "I know where to find this kind of book," he said, his eyes twinkling with mischief.

Odette whipped around to face Tom, "Really? Where?" she asked, her eyes shining with curiosity.

Tom winked at Odette, his smile growing wider, "Tomorrow," he said, his voice filled with promise.

Odette's cheeks turned a deep shade of pink at Tom's words and his playful wink. She couldn't help but smile, her heart fluttering with anticipation. The surprises of the day had been wonderful, but the promise of tomorrow was even more exciting.
