Chapter 32: A Little Misunderstanding

The mansion was filled with the sounds of soft conversation, the family enjoying a peaceful afternoon together. Suddenly, Bill walked in, a bag of blood in his hand. He handed it to Tom, a knowing look in his eyes.

Asteria, curious as ever, watched as Tom accepted the bag. "I want some too," she said, her voice filled with determination.

Tom shook his head, a gentle smile on his face. "This isn't for kids, Asteria," he said, his voice filled with understanding.

Asteria's face fell, her eyes welling up with tears. Seeing her about to cry, Tom quickly got up, returning a moment later with a glass of strawberry juice. "Here," he said, handing her the glass. "This is your special drink."

Asteria's face lit up as she accepted the glass, her earlier disappointment forgotten. Odette, watching the scene, couldn't help but chuckle. "She really thought it was blood," she said, her voice filled with amusement

As the juice hit her tongue, her face changed, her eyes widening in surprise. "It's sour!" she exclaimed, her voice filled with disbelief.

Tom, Odette, Bill, Gustav, and George couldn't help but burst into laughter at Asteria's reaction. Her surprise, coupled with the adorable pout on her face, was too much for them to handle.

"Oh, Asteria," Odette said, her voice filled with amusement. "That's what strawberries taste like."

Odette shook her head, a gentle smile on her face. "No, sweetheart, it's not healthy for you," she said, her voice filled with understanding.

Tom, watching the exchange, quickly understood. "She wants your milk, Odette," he said, his voice filled with understanding.

The mansion was filled with the sounds of soft conversation, the family enjoying their peaceful afternoon together. As Asteria asked about her grandmother, Odette took a deep breath, ready to share a part of their family's history.

"Your grandmother's name was Victoriana Delion," Odette began, her voice filled with respect and love. "She was a strong woman, filled with love and kindness."

She paused, gathering her thoughts before continuing. "When I was a child, I loved playing outside, just like you, Asteria. I adored roses, and your grandmother would always let me play in her garden."

Her voice turned somber as she delved into the darker part of her past. "One day, the military came. They forced us to move, but your grandmother begged them to let us stay. They didn't listen, and...and they shot her," she said, her voice choked with emotion.
