Chapter 26: A Promise of Battle

With the scent of her blood still lingering in the air, Odette wiped her hand, her gaze fixed on Tom and Calix. The fight had stopped, but the tension was still there, a silent reminder of the confrontation.

Calix turned to Tom, a smirk playing on his lips. "Tom," he began, his voice filled with a challenge. "Are you willing to fight with me? If you lose, your wife is mine. And if I lose, your wife remains yours."

He stepped forward, leaning in to whisper in Tom's ear. "A battle begins soon, Tom. Get ready."

Tom's eyes narrowed, his anger flaring up at Calix's words. He curled his hand into a fist, his knuckles turning white. But before he could respond, Calix stepped back, his smirk widening.

And then, just as suddenly as he had appeared, Calix left, leaving a trail of tension and anger in his wake.

Tom stood there, his gaze fixed on the door. He was angry, yes, but he was also determined. He would not let Calix take Odette away from him. He would fight, and he would win.

As they stood in the silent room, they felt a sense of unity, a sense of determination. They were a family, and they would fight for each other, no matter what. And as they prepared for the upcoming battle, they knew they were ready to face any challenges together. Because they were strong, they were united, and they were a family.

As the door closed behind Calix, Odette moved towards Tom, her gaze filled with concern. She reached out, gently holding his arm. "Tom," she began, her voice soft. "What did Calix say to you?"

Tom turned to look at her, his anger replaced by a softness that was reserved only for Odette. He took a deep breath, preparing himself to relay Calix's words.

"He wants to challenge me to a battle," Tom said, his voice steady. "He said if I lose, you would be his. But if he loses, you would remain mine."

Odette's eyes widened in surprise, but she quickly composed herself. She knew Calix was a threat, but she also knew that Tom was strong, stronger than anyone she knew.

She squeezed Tom's arm, offering him a reassuring smile. "We'll face this together, Tom," she said, her voice filled with determination. "We won't let Calix win."

Tom nodded, returning her smile. He was grateful for her support, for her unwavering faith in him. And as they stood there, hand in hand, they knew they were ready to face any challenges that came their way. They were a team, a family, and they would stand together, no matter what.

*Time skip*

In the midst of their serious conversation, a sudden cry pierced the silence. Tom and Odette turned their heads in unison, their hearts skipping a beat. It was Asteria Luna, her wails echoing through the house.

Odette quickly let go of Tom's arm, rushing towards the nursery. Tom was right on her heels, his concern for his daughter overriding his earlier anger.

As they entered the nursery, they found Asteria Luna in her crib, her tiny face scrunched up in distress. Odette quickly scooped her up, cradling her against her chest. "Shh, it's okay, Asteria," she cooed, her voice soft and comforting.

Tom stood by her side, his hand gently stroking Asteria Luna's back. He could feel his heart melting at the sight of his wife and daughter, a sense of warmth filling him.

As Asteria Luna's cries slowly subsided, they shared a glance, their bond strengthened by their love for their daughter. They were a family, united by love and shared challenges. And as they comforted their crying baby, they knew they could face anything together. Because they were strong, they were united, and they were a family

As Odette and Tom comforted Asteria Luna, a sudden sound caught their attention. It was a small voice, barely a whisper, but it was clear and distinct.

"Mommy," Asteria Luna said, her tiny voice filled with warmth.

Odette's eyes widened in surprise, her heart pounding in her chest. She looked at Tom, who was equally shocked. "Did she just..." Odette began, her voice trailing off.

Before she could finish her sentence, Asteria Luna spoke again. "Daddy," she said, her gaze moving to Tom.

The room fell silent, the only sound being Asteria Luna's soft coos. Tom and Odette stared at their daughter, their hearts filled with awe and love. Their baby girl had spoken her first words.

"Daddy," Tom repeated, a proud smile on his face. He reached out, gently stroking Asteria Luna's cheek. "That's right, sweetheart. I'm your daddy."

Odette nodded, her eyes filled with tears of joy. "And I'm your mommy," she said, her voice choked with emotion.

As they held their daughter, their hearts bursting with love, they knew they had experienced a special moment. Their baby girl had spoken her first words, and they were "mommy" and "daddy". It was a moment they would cherish forever, a moment that brought them even closer as a family.

In the midst of their surprise and joy, Asteria Luna made a small gesture that brought them back to reality. She reached out, her tiny hand grabbing a fistful of Odette's clothes, pulling slightly.

Odette looked down, a smile forming on her lips. "Are you hungry, Asteria?" she asked, her voice filled with affection.

Tom watched, a soft chuckle escaping his lips. "I think that's a yes," he said, his gaze filled with warmth and love.

Odette nodded, her heart filled with love for her little girl. She adjusted her hold on Asteria Luna, preparing to feed her. "Let's get you fed, sweetheart," she said, her voice soft and comforting.

As Odette fed Asteria Luna, Tom watched, his heart filled with love for his family. This was their life now, filled with small, precious moments that brought them closer as a family. And as he watched Odette and Asteria Luna, he knew he wouldn't trade it for anything in the world
