Chapter 38: Preparations and Anticipations

Two days had passed since Odette's joyful revelation, and life in the household had taken on a different rhythm. Odette's belly was gradually growing, a sign of the new life growing within her. Asteria, filled with excitement, had taken to making paper toys for her future sibling, her little hands working diligently.

Victoriana, meanwhile, had taken to resting in the adjacent bedroom, her presence a comforting constant in the house. The excitement of the past few days had worn her out, but she was content, her heart filled with happiness at the prospect of becoming a grandmother again.

Tom, on the other hand, was getting ready for a different kind of anticipation. The night of the full moon was approaching, a night when vampires would lose control of their selves. Along with Bill and the rest of the Kaulitz friends, he was preparing for the vampire hunt. The full moon would rise at 11:00 o'clock, and they had to be ready.

Amidst all the preparations, Odette couldn't help but worry for Tom. The vampire hunt was always a dangerous task, and with her pregnancy, her worries had only increased. But she knew Tom was strong, and she trusted him to come back safely.

As the day wore on, the house was filled with a sense of anticipation. Each member of the family was busy with their own preparations, their hearts filled with a mix of excitement and worry. But they knew, no matter what, they would face the coming days together, as a family

Seeing the worry etched on Odette's face, Tom decided to reassure her. He walked over to her, his heart aching at the sight of her worried expression. He gently cupped her face in his hands, his eyes meeting hers.

"Don't worry, I will come back," he promised, his voice filled with determination. He then leaned in and planted a gentle kiss on her forehead, a silent promise of his return.

He turned to Asteria, who was watching them with wide eyes. He bent down to her level and planted a kiss on her forehead as well. "Take care of your mom for me, okay?" he said, his voice soft.

With a final glance at Odette and Asteria, he turned and walked back to the living room. His brother and friends were waiting for him, their faces filled with determination. It was time for the hunt to begin.

As he walked away, he carried with him the promise he made to Odette and Asteria. He would return, no matter what. It was a promise he intended to keep, a promise that gave him the strength to face the night ahead

As Tom waited downstairs for the night to fall, he was startled by the sound of hurried footsteps. Turning around, he saw Asteria running towards him, her small face streaked with tears.

"Dad, please come back," she sobbed, throwing her arms around him. Her words tugged at his heart, filling him with a sense of determination.

Tom leaned down to her level, gently wiping away her tears. "Yes, I will come back, my little princess. And I will bring you some toys," he promised, his voice filled with warmth.

He pulled her into a tight hug, his heart aching at the sight of her tears. After a moment, he let her go, watching as she ran back to her room. As she disappeared from sight, he felt a tear slide down his cheek.

It was a moment that tugged at his heart, a moment that strengthened his resolve. He would return, not just for Odette, but for Asteria as well. It was a promise he intended to keep, a promise that gave him the strength to face the night ahead.

After Asteria left, Tom found himself alone in the quiet living room. He reached up and wiped the tears from his cheek, his heart heavy with emotion. He took a deep breath, trying to calm the turmoil within him.

He walked over to the table and picked up a glass, filled with blood. The rich, crimson liquid was a necessity for him, a source of strength. He took a sip, the taste familiar and comforting.

Once he was done, he found himself gazing out the window, his eyes fixed on the night sky. The stars twinkled back at him, their light a silent comfort in the darkness. But the peace of the night was not enough to calm the storm within him.

In a sudden burst of anger, he clenched his fist and crashed it into the glass, shattering it into pieces. His gaze was fiery, reflecting the anger and determination within him.

The sound of the shattering glass echoed through the room, a testament to his resolve. He would face the night, he would face the hunt, and he would return. It was a promise he had made, a promise he intended to keep

Fueled by his anger and frustration, Tom turned to the wall and punched it hard with his fist. The impact sent a jolt through his arm, but the physical pain was nothing compared to the emotional turmoil within him.

As he pulled his hand back, he was suddenly hit with a wave of memories. He remembered a similar moment, a moment when it was not him, but Odette who had punched a wall.

He remembered how she had stood there, her face a mask of determination and defiance. He remembered the fire in her eyes, the strength in her stance. He remembered how she had punched the wall, her fist leaving a dent in the solid surface.

The memory brought a smile to his face, despite the pain. It reminded him of Odette's strength, her resilience. It reminded him of why he was doing this, why he was putting himself in danger.

As he stood there, his hand still throbbing from the impact, he felt a renewed sense of determination. He would return, for Odette, for Asteria, for their family. It was a promise he had made, a promise he intended to keep

As Tom stood there, his hand against the wall, his mind was flooded with memories of Odette. He remembered her face, her words, her laugh, and her smile. He remembered her kindness, the way she had always been there for him, supporting him, loving him.

He remembered the first time he had seen her smile, the way her eyes had lit up, the way her laughter had filled the room. He remembered the kindness in her actions, the way she always put others before herself, the way she loved unconditionally.

And then there were the memories of Asteria. He remembered the day she was born, the sound of her first cry. It was a sound that had filled him with an indescribable joy, a sound that had become his favorite memory.

These memories, these moments, they were what kept him going. They were what gave him the strength to face the challenges ahead. They were what made him smile, even in the face of danger.

As he stood there, lost in his memories, he felt a sense of peace wash over him. He knew what he was fighting for, he knew what he had to protect. And with that thought in mind, he was ready to face whatever came his way

Tom was pulled out of his reverie by the sound of Bill's voice. "Tom, what's wrong?" Bill asked, his eyes filled with concern.

Tom quickly composed himself, putting on a brave face. "Umm, nothing," he replied, managing a small smile. Bill studied him for a moment before nodding and leaving him alone.

Once Bill was gone, Tom reached into his pocket and pulled out a small photograph. It was a picture of Odette, her face lit up with a radiant smile. It was one of his favorite pictures of her, a picture that always managed to bring a smile to his face.

As he looked at the picture, he couldn't help but smile. It was a reminder of what he was fighting for, a reminder of the love and happiness that awaited him at home.

With the picture in his hand, he felt a renewed sense of determination. He would return, for Odette, for Asteria, for their family. It was a promise he had made, a promise he intended to keep

As Tom stood there, lost in his thoughts, his eyes were drawn to the railings above. There, leaning against the railings, was Odette. Her face was etched with worry, her eyes filled with concern as they met his.

Despite the distance between them, their connection was palpable. It was as if an invisible thread linked them, allowing them to communicate without words.

Tom could see the worry in her eyes, the fear of the unknown. But he also saw the love, the trust she had in him. It was a sight that both warmed his heart and steeled his resolve.

He gave her a reassuring smile, his eyes conveying a silent promise. He would return, he would be safe. It was a promise he had made, a promise he intended to keep.

As he turned to leave, he carried with him the image of Odette standing on the railings, her face illuminated by the moonlight. It was an image that would stay with him, a beacon of hope in the darkness.
