Chapter 24: A Shield of Protection

After a delightful playtime and a peaceful nap, Tom and Odette decided to step out to buy some essentials for Asteria Luna. They carefully tucked her into her crib, her tiny form wrapped in a soft blanket.

Before leaving, Tom turned to Bill. "Keep an eye on her, will you?" he asked, his gaze serious. Bill nodded, understanding the gravity of the responsibility.

As Tom and Odette left, the house fell into a peaceful silence, only broken by the occasional cooing of Asteria Luna in her sleep. Bill watched over her, his gaze softening at the sight of the sleeping baby.

Suddenly, a movement outside the window caught his attention. A tall man was standing there, his gaze fixed on Asteria Luna. Bill watched as the man reached out to touch the baby through the open window.

But before his hand could reach Asteria Luna, a bright light flashed, and the man retracted his hand with a yelp. He looked at his hand, now marked with a burn, his face filled with shock.

Bill realized what had happened. Tom and Odette had put a protective shield around Asteria Luna, a shield that would harm anyone with ill intentions. He couldn't help but feel a sense of relief. Their baby was safe, protected by her parents' love and magic.

Just as he let out a sigh of relief, the front door opened, signaling the return of Tom and Odette. They walked into the room, their arms filled with shopping bags. They stopped in their tracks when they saw Bill standing over the crib, a worried look on his face.

"Bill? What happened?" Odette asked, her voice filled with concern. She quickly moved to the crib, her eyes scanning Asteria Luna for any signs of distress.

Tom dropped the shopping bags and joined Odette, his gaze meeting Bill's. "Is she okay?" he asked, his voice filled with worry.

Bill nodded, explaining what had happened while they were gone. He told them about the man at the window and how the protective shield had protected Asteria Luna.

As they listened to Bill's recount, Tom and Odette felt a wave of relief wash over them. Their baby was safe, their protective shield had worked.

"Thank you, Bill," Tom said, his voice filled with gratitude. "We owe you one."

Bill shook his head, dismissing the thanks. "I was just doing what you asked," he replied, his gaze softening as he looked at Asteria Luna.

Bill nodded, his expression softening. "I know," he said. "And I'm grateful for that. I just...I care about her too, you know?"
