AlessiaThe amount of fear that coursed through me when a gun was being pointed at my head couldn't be measured. What I see in movies and read in books is happening to me. I could feel the sound of my heart thumping straight in my ears. I don't know the relationship between Angelo and Dominic, but with their interaction, the two aren't on good terms.
"I am warning you, Dominic," I heard Angelo say, gripping the man's collar tightly. The man who was pointing the gun at me did the same.
"Please let me go. I promise I will pretend I didn't see anything," I pleaded, tears clouding my vision. I wanted nothing but to see myself out of here. I want to go home. This isn't the kind of life I want to venture into.
Dominic suddenly jerked his body from Angelo's hold and then fixed his eyes on me. "You want to be spared?" He asked.
"Please..." I muttered again, not sure whether any of them heard me.
Dominic began taking slow steps towards me when Angelo blocked him. The two shared a heated look. If looks could kill, one of them would be six feet under. "Don't be faster than your shadow, Dominic. If you want war, I'm ready to give it to you. We are no longer in the era of mercy. You bring it on, I gladly take it in."
I was in a state of fear, but I managed to watch the two attack each other with words. I don't know anything about them or what kind of business they deal with in their mafia world. Nevertheless, I know I was in a dangerous world.
"You're no different from your father, Angelo. Anyways, I only wanted to shake the table a bit," Dominic continued. He then lifted his hand.
The man withdrew the gun away, and my legs instantly gave up. I fell on my knees, my vision blurred with tears. What was going on in my life? What have I ever done to deserve this?
"Since you guys are already here, enjoy the cruise." And with that, he walked away with his men following behind him. My heart was still racing with fear. A sharp pain visited my head.
"Let's go," Angelo's voice resonated in my eardrums. Seriously? If he hadn't taken me against my will, none of this would've happened?
"Are you sure you have a heart?" I uttered out, stopping him in his tracks. I turned my head around to face him. "Don't you feel any pity for me?" I went on again.
It happened so fast that my body was being hauled up, and my back collided with the cabin wall with a blazing eyes piercing through mine. The weakness I once felt in my legs came back again. "Pity?" He chuckled.
"It doesn't happen in my world. You're all a bunch of liars and cheaters and only know how to put on a fake façade." His face was so close to mine that any slight movement and our lips would be touching.
"All of you!" He seethes in a way that made shivers run down my spine. The tears finally made their way out. I don't think whatever I say or will say will move him. I'm seeing a monster in human form standing before me.
I gathered my strength and pushed him off my body. "Please let me go!" I screamed on top of my lungs. "I don't want to spend a second in this dangerous place that only knows how to torture people! This isn't the life I want! So please let me go!"
"Let me go!" I repeated again, clutching my head with both my hands.
Angelo yanked me towards him forcefully. "You still don't get it huh? You're a pawn in this game! You're here for a reason and I'm not going to fucking let you go until I've achieved my goals." He roared.
"Even though I'm innocent." I muffled out as a lone tear fell from my eyes. Something flickers in his eyes. Like regret. I decided to still try my luck. "I'm sure you have a family too. Would you be at peace to see your sister in the hands of bad people? Or would you be happy for something like this to happen to your own daughter?"
His hold on my hand slightly loosened but he didn't let go. The rage I once saw on his face shifted to what I would label as sadness or fear. "How would-"
"Shut up." He said, but I didn't. The look in his eyes tells me there was something deep within the arrogant face of him. "We all have one thing to protect. My family-"
"Shut up bitch!" I flinched at his sudden tone. "You don't know a thing, so shut the fuck up!" He exclaimed again. I didn't get time to react when he held me by the wrist and dragged me away.
"You're hurting me." I muffled out, but my words were deaf to his eyes, and he kept on dragging me away. It was as if the people on the yacht are blind. No one even cast a glance our direction or maybe they're pretending not to see. That makes goosebumps of fear crawl on my skin.
"Marco, get the boat. We're leaving," he said into his phone.
Five minutes later, and I found myself in a boat with four dangerous men surrounding me. The breeze that was blowing, topped with the fear inside me, made me feel chills running down my spine. I felt something warm or rather warm clothes draped on my body.
I pulled it off my body. "I don't want," I said, throwing the blazer on the floor. I didn't care whether he'd get angry after that and also didn't care how much it cost. I was very much sure he isn't okay in the head. He thinks he can make me feel better after threatening me and endangering my life. He must be sick.
"The cold will get too much before we get to the shore, woman. You should be glad the boss is in the mood enough to lend you his blazer," Marco said.
"I would rather freeze to death than wear this thing," I spat.
Marco's eyes widened, and he shook his head. "You don't know how much that blazer costs, and you're calling it a 'thing'."
"I don't care. Leave me alone!" He lifted his hands in surrender. "Easy, tigress."
"Let her be, Marco. It's just a matter of time before she begs for the blazer," Kevin chirped in. I didn't answer them and instead folded my arms across my chest. They should all go to hell. And like I said, I would rather freeze to death than wear anything of his. Over my dead body.
By the time we arrived back home, the headache had gotten worse, topped with the amount of cold that was coursing through my body. Marco and Kevin kept on throwing me glances, knowing exactly what I was going through. But I would never admit I was cold.
The house was a bit warmer than outside, but it didn't do much to reduce the cold I was feeling. My nose caught the aroma of the different varieties of food from the dining table. I know we had eaten before we left, but the sight summoned hunger from nowhere. I would get to that, but first, I needed to get myself something warm and wear, else I would freeze to death like I said. And the men will laugh at me over my corpse.
As I took a step towards the stairs, I heard Marco's voice. "Don't forget to wear socks."
Damn! He's so annoying and has a big mouth.
I wasted no time in stripping out of the dress. I threw it to the other side of the room, recalling what I went through wearing the dress. How Angelo made my whole body go weak with his touch. He was perfect at whatever he did to my body back then because I almost fell for it. I almost snapped into his world of pleasure.
I threw one last glare at the dress before sauntering to the bathroom. A hot shower is what I needed. The moment the water began pouring over my body, I felt a sense of peace engulf me. "This feels so much better," I muttered as my body relaxed.
Suddenly, memories of earlier flashed before me. "You're a pawn in this game." What did he mean by that? Which game? When I know nothing about the mafia. My parents aren't involved with loan sharks, let alone the mafia. What exactly does Angelo want from me?
I stayed in the shower for some time before I switched it off and wrapped a towel around my body.
"Oh my God!" I don't know if it was the shock of Angelo's unexpected appearance in my room or the fact that I was in nothing but a towel that barely reached my knee. But I found my legs losing balance, and just when I wanted to save myself from landing on the floor butt down, something unexpected happened. I didn't fall down on my butt, neither did Angelo come to my rescue. Instead, I saved myself from falling by my hand holding on to Angelo's pants and inner boxers, pulling them down on the accord.
