Angelo
"Are you sure Alessia can handle the event all by herself?" Elijah asked. I called all three of them for a meeting in my study room. A meeting on the new fashion program one of my art gallery investor's wife was going to host. I know nothing about fashion but I trusted Alessia would do a good job. It might not be what she wanted but at least helping her showcase her talent will lessen the guilt in my heart.
"I heard Mrs. Martinez is a hot-tempered woman. What If Alessia made a mistake and the woman decides to fire her." Marco voiced out. I listened to each problem they had regarding giving the job to Alessia. My eyes shifted to Kelvin who had been quiet all the while.
"What about you Kelvin? What do you have to say?" I asked intertwining my hand.
"I don't think Alessia will have an issue. From what I gathered about her, she's a hardworking event planner who has been recognized for her great talents. She just needs the right coaching, because this is a big event. I know she'd be nervous." I nodded my head at Kelvin's suggestion.
"You're right Kelvin. That is why I need you to help her." I broke. Marco and Elijah gave me a confused look.
"Yes. I want you to guide her in what is it to know about Mrs. Martinez before she starts handling the job. The event is in two weeks. You can use three days to couch her, I've set an appointment with the agency for this weekend. That way Alessia will have time to prepare herself." I explained taking a sip of my drink.
"What?" I asked as the three men gave me a more suspicious look. "What are you guys looking at me that way?" I pressed on again.
"You seem more interested in Alessia now." Marco, the one with the big mouth said.
"Yes, I am. Do any of you have a problem with that?" I spat. Marco and Elijah exchanged looks whereas Kelvin's lips curved up into a smirk.
I clapped my hands together. "Aright. Leave my office and get back to work." I gestured to the door.
"Easy boss. We're not trying to get through your heart. We have no problem with you and Alessia getting along. You looked like shit the past two days when she didn't want to talk to you." I reached for the business book next to me, ready to haul it at him. Marco surrendered. "I'm sorry boss. We're out." I shook my head as the three men walked out.
Marco is the younger one among them, he acts exactly his age. I flipped through the pages of the proposal. Every part of me trusted she'd do a good job. I want to make her happy. I know she's worried about her job. If this will lessen the pain in her heart, I'm ready to do that.
Regarding the way her parents reacted to her, it has to do with Dominic. The man had something against her parents, from her trip to Italy to her appearing at the auction. Everything was planned. I know it would break her if I were to tell her that her parents were the cause of her life taking a turn. I had assigned Kelvin to find out more information.
I don't know how many lives Dominic wants to destroy. He didn't just destroy mine; he wants to do the same to Alessia. I might be naïve back then when it happened to my father but I won't allow the same to happen to Alessia. I have to do everything in my power to stop him from ruining innocent lives.
Just in time, my phone buzzed with a message. I gulped down a bitter lump at the content. I had been ignoring my mother's calls and texts. I know it would be the same thing over and over again. Nothing good will come from me visiting her. I didn't intend to check the message but as another came again, it made my anger boil. "Trying harder won't make you the hero. It won't change what happened in the past."
There was no doubt she was trying to make me feel guilty. She always was with her words. I closed my eyes and opened them again. Maybe I should go down and see her. It had been a while. My mother lives an hour away from me.
