Alessia

His lips curved up at my revelation. Even if he doesn't say it, I know seeing him with Annie affects me. I don't know why it bothers me so much, though. "Alright then," I answered. I hesitated for a moment before turning to leave.

"And where are you going?" He asked.

"I'm going back to my room, of course."

I caught sight of his lips curving up more. "Sit," he ordered, then leaned his body on his desk. I was confused but sat down.

"I'm going to ask you a few questions, and I want you to give me an honest answer." He hadn't started his question yet, but nervousness was moving slowly inside me.

"What relationship do you have with Dominic?"

"Dominic?" I found myself repeating. Why would I get involved with someone I didn't know until he took me along to the yacht? "I don't have any relationship with him. I don't even know him," I said as a matter of fact.

"And you think I would believe that flatly?"

My brows creased in confusion. "What exactly do you want me to say then? To lie? Maybe you have forgotten, but I know nobody here. You brought me here. So, I don't see where all these questions are coming from."

If I say his words were not about to piss me off, I would be lying. "What if I tell you that your father is involved with Dominic?"

"What?" I jolted up. "You must be kidding me. My father has never crossed paths with loan sharks, talk more of a mafia boss." I didn't fail to chuckle at the end of my words.

His arms were folded across his chest as he stared at me. "You think so? I guess you don't know your family."

Anger surged through me, and I was quick to charge at him. "What exactly are you trying to pull, Angelo? If you want to mess with me, I don't mind. But don't involve my parents. You know nothing about them. So, drop the bullshit." I didn't even care about my voice rising in the room.

I took his silence as a cue to leave, but I didn't get to do that when he pulled me back. "Let go of me, Angelo," I said as calmly as I could muster up.

"I fucking know more than you can imagine. Getting information on someone is like a piece of cake. And you don't walk away from me unless I say so." I didn't know why, but looking at his face boiled my anger more.

I used all the strength in me and jerked my body away. "I don't fucking care. If you can't free me, then leave me the fuck alone and stay out of my family." I stormed away. I had held the doorknob when his words penetrated my eardrums, sending shivers down my spine.

"What if I destroy their house?"

"What?" I turned around in shock. "You wouldn't do that."

"Try me. And I will show you my capabilities." I found my legs moving towards him.

The anger that had once gripped me dissipated. "Please leave my parents out of this. I don't mind what you do to me, but please don't hurt them."

"Please," I pleaded. My eyes had started watering with tears. His smirk widened, and next thing, he burst into a fit of laughter.

"Wow. I didn't know you were such a scary cat. With just a small act from me and you're already begging." His laughter continued to echo in the room.

I stared at him in confusion. "Wait... I don't get you."

He covered his mouth with his palms to stop his laughter. "I was only pulling your legs. Like I said before, your family is safe."

The tears I've been holding found their way out. I was really scared when he said he'd destroy my parents' house. "You're an asshole, Angelo," I said, then stormed out of the room.

Even after going back to my room, the tears didn't stop flowing. "God! Why is my life messed up like this?" I lifted my head to suppress more tears from falling but to no avail. I slouched down on the floor. "I miss my parents. Will I be able to see them again?" I muttered to myself as more tears gushed out.

The fact that Angelo made a fool out of me pissed me off more. He sees me as a joke. He has no intention of letting me go. Though it doesn't bother me that much like before, I would be the happiest person on earth if he releases me.

I didn't know for how long I'd been sitting there, talking to myself and having all sorts of thoughts in my head. In the end, I grabbed the book I had been reading for the past few days and continued, just to get distracted.

Later in the afternoon, Lillian came in to inform me that lunch was ready, and I told her to bring mine to the room. I don't think I can tolerate seeing Angelo's face. I was surprised when she didn't ask me questions and did as I requested.

Night came, and she did the same without me telling her to. She had just dropped the tray on the nightstand and was about to leave when I spoke up. "Aren't you going to ask me why I stayed inside the room all day?" I hated that I was the one asking her. I needed someone to talk to.

"Do you have any reason for that? I didn't give it much thought," she answered, her eyes darting left to right. I bit my bottom lip and then dropped my legs down.

"Angelo is taking me for a joke," I started.

"Why do you say that?"

"I thought we were getting along at some point. I thought the night we spent was mutual. I had forgotten for a moment he's someone holding me captive."

"What did he do exactly?" She asked, sitting down next to me. I lamented what Angelo did to me. What I didn't expect was for her to burst out laughing.

"Seriously, Lillian? You see me as a laughingstock too, right?" I swallowed down a bitter lump.

"No. The laugh is not directed at you. I didn't know Angelo had a sense of humor."

"Leave. Don't talk to me," I said, pouting.

Her laughter died down. "Okay, let's be serious here. I've never seen him joke around like that. That is why he was zoning out during lunch and dinner. He cares, Alessia." I rolled my eyes. "You think he does?"

"Of course. Your presence here has made a lot of changes in him. You and the guys might not notice, but I can notice everything."

"Okay, good," was the only thing I said. She stood up.

"Let me know if you need anything or want to ask anything. I know a lot of things about Angelo that you may want to know," she said, chuckling. I rolled my eyes in return. I heard the sound of the door closing before diverting my attention to the food on the nightstand.

I didn't realize how famished I was until I cleared everything from the plate. I gulped down the glass of water and finished it in one go. "What now?" I muffled out to myself. The night was still young. I wasn't sleepy yet and also not ready to face Angelo yet.

Fifteen minutes later, I began pacing around the room contemplating. "I didn't do anything wrong. Why would I hide myself in the room?" With that thought, I carried the tray of empty plates and left the room. I couldn't help but glance at Angelo's room as I made my way downstairs. The living room was empty when I descended.

"Thank you for the food, Lillian," I said, boringly dropping the plates on the counter.

"You're welcome. And Angelo wants to see you." Her words somehow lifted my mood, but I kept a calm face. "For what?" I asked her.

She shrugged. "I don't know. My job is to pass the information. Who knows, maybe he'd apologize."

Will he?

"Won't you want his apology?" I do want it. But he better not toy with me first. I said nothing to her and sauntered my way upstairs. Thoughts ran through my mind as I walked to Angelo's door. I respect his privacy, so I knocked on the door and awaited his response. A few seconds later, silence followed. I turned the doorknob and stepped in.

I was met with almost darkness. Why would he want to see me if he isn't in his room? I didn't walk further inside the room. Lillian didn't even specify where he was. His room or his study room. Since his room is empty, maybe he's in his study room. With that thought, I aimed at the door. However, that didn't happen when I heard a loud sound followed by the familiar voice of Angelo from the direction of the bathroom. Like something was falling. Without a second thought, I rushed to the bathroom and pushed the door open. My eyes widened seeing the scene before me. Blood.
