After the first night of sneaking out, Kazuha had become confident in his skills. Every night he would successfully sneak out and sneak back in before his parents awoke. Kazuha felt like he was in a forbidden love story the way he had to sneak every night to see Tomo.
Tomo's mom had a gut feeling that something bad would happen if she let this go on any longer, but the idea of splitting up Tomo and Kazuha broke her heart. She was stuck between doing the right thing and doing what would make both of them happy.
Kazuha and Tomo are currently laying in Tomo's mom's bed with her. Tomo is lying in the middle while Kazuha is snuggled up to his left and his mom is lying to his right.
"My competition is in two weeks..." Kazuha hesitantly said. Saying out loud how close the competition is, made Kazuha finally feel stressed. The piece he prepared wasn't up to par with his parent's standards and needed to be fixed a bit. Two weeks seemed like not enough time to him.
Tomo hugged Kazuha. "I know. Me and my mom will be there, OK? We'll always be there supporting you."
Kazuha felt a sense of relief after feeling Tomo's warmth from the hug. Tomo's mom watched them hug and her heart felt whole. Still, a lingering worry haunted her and her motherly instincts made it hard to ignore.
She cleared her throat, "Kazuha... I have something important I want to ask you."
Kazuha sat up in the bed and looked her in the eyes. All of a sudden, the atmosphere became tense and Kazuha could feel his heart pounding in his chest because of how nervous he was.
"You know I'll always support you both, but what about your parents? Have you even told them anything?" Her voice was stern and serious. She usually has a very carefree attitude, that's why Tomo is the same. He gets his attitude from his mother. However, seeing her like this was foreign to Kazuha.
Kazuha tried his best to reply despite his voice being shaky. "Not... yet. I don't think they'll be as supportive as you." It felt like there was a lump in Kazuha's throat. For him, it was hard to imagine his parents would ever support him.
Kazuha's mom sighed. She saw how scared and anxious Kazuha was becoming so she smiled for him. "It's okay, Kazu. I'm not mad or anything. I just wanted to remind you that sooner or later, you'll have to tell them."
Tomo, who was silent the entire time, grabbed Kazuha's hand and he squeezed it tightly. He looked up at Kazuha and smiled. "No rush though."
Kazuha felt tears welling up in his eyes. They were the complete opposite of his parents. They were caring and understanding. Being here was like heaven to Kazuha while being at home was a living hell.
Kazuha hides under the covers so couldn't see the tears rolling down his cheeks. Tomo hugged him tightly.
That night, Kazuha almost didn't make it home in time. He felt so comforted by Tomo and his mom that he almost fell asleep at their house. Kazuha rushed up the stairs to his room and when he opened the door his heart dropped.
His parents were sitting on his bed. His mother looked enraged while his father still had the same stoic face. Kazuha stood at the doorway with his mouth agape. He was at a loss for words.
"In the end, you disobey us." Kazuha's mother said. Her voice brought shivers down Kazuha's spine.
'It's all over...' he kept repeating in his head. His chances of seeing Tomo have dropped to zero. He knows that now he wouldn't be able to meet with Tomo at all after the competition.
Kazuha's silence further enraged Kazuha's mom. She stood up and began yelling at the top of her lungs. "We told you not to meet with him anymore! Why did you fucking sneak out?! Have you lost your mind, Kaedehara Kazuha?! You're giving up your future over this...this...!" She couldn't find the right words to call Tomo. In the end, her frustration got the better of her. She called him the last thing Kazuha would ever expect, the f slur.
