Chapter XVII

For a while, Kazuha was stumped trying to find a job. All the other members had started a job except Kazuha. Whenever the band members would meet up at the band space to practice, Kazuha felt guilty being the only one not paying. Despite everyone being very understanding that he still couldn't find a job, it still bothered him.

Tighnari found a job at a local flower shop, Cyno currently works at a gas station, Thoma works at a bakery, and Scaramouche works at a restaurant. Kazuha applied for various jobs but none of them ever got back to him. At first, he thought maybe it was his resume that wasn't good. However, he asked the band members and they all approved that nothing was wrong with it.

When he started to give up, Scaramouche approached him with a job offer. The restaurant he worked at needed an additional worker. Kazuha jumped at this opportunity, not only because he needed the job, but also because it meant he could spend more time with Scaramouche. This opportunity almost seemed too perfect.

To Kazuha's surprise, he got the job. Kazuha was both ecstatic and nervous. He was joyful when he finally got the job but nervous because he'd never worked before. He admits he's never been good with communication skills. He sucks at talking to strangers. Still, the manager reassured him that since it was his first time working a job, he would give Kazuha simple tasks until he gained experience.

The first day of the job arrived and Kazuha had to change into his uniform. He had been filled to the brim with anxiety to the point that he couldn't sleep a wink the previous night. Now that he was wearing the uniform and looked the part, he felt that same anxious feeling from last night.

Kazuha took in a deep breath and joined his other fellow workers. Right now, since the store just opened there happened to be barely any customers. Kazuha took the liberty of getting to know his coworkers. The person who made the strongest impression on him was someone named Gaming. Kazuha could immediately sense that Gaming was a social butterfly by nature. Although he seemed younger than Kazuha, he was still very respectful and mature while also being playful and friendly.

Kazuha was able to strike up a conversation with Gaming. From the few minutes they talked, he quickly opened up to Kazuha. Gaming explained that he had a big family, therefore, his parents rarely paid attention to whatever Gaming wanted because they either didn't care or didn't have the money. So, Gaming took it upon himself to apply to many jobs. Currently, out of all the workers here, Gaming has the most experience. Despite his youthful appearance and lively demeanor, he was very hardworking and he knew how to be a leader and keep the workers in check. He wasn't in charge of the workers but everyone respected the young man so they all followed his every order. Also, the owner grew fond of him and thought of Gaming as the son he wished he had.

Before walking off to familiarize himself more with the restaurant, Gaming expressed his sincerity, "Don't worry, Kazuha! If you have any questions, come to me for assistance. I'll always look out for you!"

Gaming's words made Kazuha feel a bit more relaxed.

Another worker Kazuha got to meet was Charlotte. A bright girl with a likable personality. Kazuha was starting to notice a pattern in the workers. They all were extremely extroverted and friendly. They welcomed Kazuha and made sure he felt safe. Kazuha laughed to himself as he thought of how Scaramouche's personality was very different from the other workers.

Once Kazuha hit it off with Charlotte, she requested that Kazuha take a photo with her. She brought her face close to Kazuha's, her right cheek squished against Kazuha's left cheek. She held up a peace sign as she flashed her pearly white teeth. Kazuha also held the same pose with his hand to match with her. Afterward, they exchanged social media handles and Charlotte tagged Kazuha. Kazuha immediately liked her post and reposted it. From what Kazuha could tell after seeing her account, she happened to be a small social media influencer with a good number of followers.
