We last read Chapter 16, in which Specter successfully escapes the Imperator's Armory supply train after having planted an unspecified device within the weapons caches stored inside its fourth boxcar, narrowly avoiding an oncoming tunnel in the process. Though she has a rather rough landing, she eventually lands in the rear two seats of her own silver convertible, with T.J. and the huge Bengal plush toy in the front two seats.
T.J. briefly admonishes her for taking so many risks, claiming that she almost died numerous times.....to which Specter, of course, respectfully disagrees. After politely correcting T.J. when he assumes she stole something from the train—which she didn't—Specter instead orders T.J. to bring the three of them back to the latter's house so they can get some rest after their apparent "victory", to which the young boy agrees.
This time, Specter, T.J., and the Bengal plush toy return to the main city itself following the supply train infiltration, and we see just how impactful Specter's heist truly was.....

-T.J.'s House, Rusted Citadel, Asia-
The moment Specter had instructed him to return both himself and her to his house, T.J. had entered the coordinates to his residence into the silver convertible's GPS system and drove back to the Rusted Citadel grounds, driving the vehicle himself this time instead of using the autopilot feature to prove to Specter that he really was worthy of his early driver's license.
When the "trio"—technically consisting of Specter, T.J., and the huge Bengal plush toy—pulled up to T.J.'s house, T.J. turned the convertible into his driveway before nearing the big garage door and turning off the engine. Then, everyone got out; Specter opened the rear passenger's side door and exited, while T.J. first got out himself.....then walked around the convertible to the Bengal plush toy's side, opened its door, and successfully pulled it out of its seat and onto the driveway after exerting a lot of effort.
"You know, I'll probably never know why you even brought that thing in the first place," Specter snarked amusedly. "Not like we had any use for it."
"Hey, he needs to see some action!" T.J. defended. "And come on.....you enjoyed his company. I know you did."
"Meh. Fair point. Just.....just make sure he doesn't get in the way next time."
"He didn't get in the way this time!"
Specter smirked. "Sure, he didn't."
"Just you wait. Eventually, he's going to be so useful, like.....you wouldn't even believe!" T.J. insisted. "You'll see!"
He hauled the huge Bengal plushy away from Specter as he began approaching the front door of his house. Then, he unlocked it, threw it open, and took out a separate pair of keys—belonging to the silver convertible itself—before chucking them to Specter; it was her vehicle, after all.
"You'll see! You'll see! You'll see!" T.J. kept exclaiming during his entire arduous trek from the convertible to the main door, with him continuing to argue as such even while he was restlessly trying to shove the toy through his front doorway. Once he and the toy were safely inside the house, T.J. shook a fist at Specter.
"You'll see!" he vowed before closing the door and indirectly bidding Specter farewell for the night.
Specter stood there in immense bewilderment, blinking her eyes a couple of times to ensure she really did just see what had happened.
