Sohan Azure
My pounding heart echoes in my head as my heavy feet carry me at lightning speed through the halls of my grandfathers mansion. I fling open his study door still in my attire from the revolting gathering I had just bare witness too.
"BLACKWOOD?! OF ALL FAMILIES?!"
My voice bounces off of the vintage dark oak wood that holds thousands of books across the walls. Anger fuses with my blood as it rushes through my veins.
Dereck Azure.
The man who brought me up and taught me all the tricks to the trade within the business world. The only man on the planet that can speak out of line to me which wouldn't result in carnage.
"You're in charge of multiple successful businesses, with no one to hand it down to and you expect me to leave it all in your hands instead of your brother who seems to already have an heir to be able to pass down to."
He continues writing on the endless sheets of paperwork in front of him, I storm over to his desk, gripping the pen out of his hand and throwing it across the room. Not a single flinch, of course there isn't. A sigh escapes his lips as he gets up slowly and walks across the room to the old malt wine in his cabinet, pouring two glasses and handing me one.
I exhale slowly in an attempt to listen to his reasoning but this is by far the craziest thing this old man has done in his life so far. We both sit in the chairs opposite each other as he smiles at me while playing with the glass in his hand.
"...Sohan. I chose the Blackwood family as they're easier to control and you'd be able to easily win over the parents taking full control from that little girl who runs it currently. I was in an arranged marriage, i grew quite fond of your grandmother-"
"-fond"
I interrupted scoffing toward him. He ignored my interruption continuing his words.
"...also the company is on the line. John Blackwood has found evidence amongst files 30 years ago that I built this company through my gruesome illegal blood stained hands. Unfortunately its enough to be investigated. He is willing to with hold those if I was to marry you off to his unwedded daughter."
I sat there silently, taking in the information that has just been shared with me. I drink the rest of my glass as I stand up to leave he grips my wrist and stops me in my tracks. I keep my eyes glued on the exit as he begins to warn me.
"Make this work Sohan. Treasure her, she is the life line of your future."
I yank my hand out of his grip and begin storming out of the building.
I will destroy that family. Starting with Aurora.
Aurora Blackwood
I stand hunched over the private bathroom counters as I try not to heave from shock. There is no way this is happening. I glance up to my reflection only to see my pale face and bloodshot eyes trying to control my tears from streaming.
I hear the door go to the bathrooms as I stand up immediately and try to play off the revolting heavy weight in my guts from the recent events. I smile at the woman who walks in as I try to leave before she realises who i am, unfortunately she recognises me and grips me hands in excitement.
"Oh! I wanted to congratulate you! You're a very lucky woman!"
I'm sure she meant well but feeling lucky was not amongst the feelings I was trying to process currently. A nervous laugh left my mouth as I go to speak but couldn't form any words over the sound of my heart still pounding in my ears.
