Sohan AzureI reach for my cufflinks within the compartment in front as we both seat ourselves comfortably into the back of the chauffeurs vehicle.
Fiddling with my sleeves, my eyes curiously catch a glimpse of Aurora placing perfume on both of her wrists, her neck and to finish? Her ankles. I kiss my teeth smiling, knowing full well that she may be oblivious to the meaning, but I most certainly am not.
She catches my expression and her eyebrows furrow in immediate confusion.
"What are you smiling about?"
Her aggravated tone sounding like an embarrassed child slipped a chuckle from my lips.
"Why the ankles?"
"I want to smell good, as you've mentioned you despise this perfume. So I've made sure to prioritise it as a daily freshen up. Kind, Aren't I?"
My chuckle only grows at her remarkable attempt to annoy me further. She has no idea how intoxicating she is. That aroma drives my senses wild with one whiff.
I nod, leaning slightly toward her.
"You smell like a run down bakery."
A sharp inhale of pure disgust over my remark only etched the excitement building inside my veins.
"You're unbelievable."
"Thank you, I hear that alot."
Her eyes roll toward the window, shaking her head in obvious disagreement. I wander how you'd react if I were the reason those enticing eyes rolled back instead?
A sigh hesitantly escaping her crimson red lips brought me back to reality.
"Sohan. Just for tonight. Please put on a convincing show with me?"
Her soft plea made my pulse quicken. I could tell how exhausted she was of this constant back and forth between us. I clench my jaw at the mere fact that I will actually oblige to one of her needs against my will.
"This night alone."
Her head shot toward my direction in surprise. Her eyes had a glimmer of hope for the first time. It flashed for only a second but enough to keep her cheerful.
Her body shifted toward the window as we continued toward our destination, I faced forward. Silencing my phone as I concentrated on my peripheral vision where I noticed one of her hands shiver slightly.
It must be nerves. Her parents are not the best and are by far the worst picture perfect family you could ever come across. She is not one to let anxiety or stress undo her this easily.
Why do I even care? I shut my eyelids tightly before deciding to go against my own damn logic.
I reach into the middle compartment, pulling out a packet of fresh mint sweets. Placing one on my tongue before turning toward her and holding one between my fingers.
She shifts her eyes between the sweet and myself in confusion.
"Open."
Her eyes flicker.
"Sohan. I am not-"
"Open your mouth Aurora."
Hesitantly, she obeys. Her lips part slightly. Eyes glued to mine, like a trance.
"Stick out your tongue."
Once again, she obeys. My pulse begins to climb in my neck, watching her tongue separate her lips further. I place the sweet onto her tongue observing her cheeks tinting themselves red.
