FINE LINE - THE CALM BEFORE THE STORM

Mavis never thought this time would come. The Quidditch World Cup. She had spent her whole summer anticipating this event and after many letters from Ron about his excitement, some had passed onto Mavis.

It was around three o'clock on a Sunday where Mavis was in her room packing her trunk with her school things, double checking every nook and cranny in case she had missed something.

In one of Ron's letters he had mentioned that he, along with Fred and George would be accompanying his father to get Harry from the Dursleys. Mavis, wanting to join, sent a letter back and asked if she could, pulling the 'I miss my cousin' card.

After getting it agreed with by the Weasleys and Andromeda, Mavis had spent the majority of her time packing as the Weasleys also mentioned that she could stay round for the rest of the summer.

From the excitement of the Quidditch World Cup and getting to stay at the Weasleys, Mavis had nearly forgotten all about her parents' secrets. Nearly being the key word. The young Black still had many questions that she wanted to ask but dropped them for now. Deciding to be happy rather than dwell on the unknown.

Time had seemed to slip Mavis' mind and it was now ten to five. Mavis had to be at Harry's in five minutes meaning she had to be at the Weasleys now. After rushing around the house to get her things ready, Mavis ran into the living room, took a hold of some Floo powder and shouted, "The Burrow."

Thankfully Andromeda said she'd drop off her bags or Mavis wouldn't've made it on time. As she came through the fireplace, Mavis looked around and saw the Weasleys patiently awaiting her arrival.

"Sorry I'm late," Mavis said, brushing herself down.

"You're right on time," Mr Weasley smiled.

"Oh Mavis, dear," Mrs Weasley said, pulling the young Black into a warm embrace. "How are you?"

"All good, Mrs Weasley," Mavis smiled, chuckling lightly.

"Let the poor girl breathe, Mum," Ron said, stuffing his hands into his pockets.

"Hush, Ronald," Mrs Weasley said, stepping back from Mavis but holding onto the tops of her arms. "My goodness, you look so much like your mother. Every time I see you, you continuously grow into this beautiful young woman."

"Thank you, Mrs Weasley," Mavis said, smiling appreciatively, her heart warming at the woman's words.

"I best get a start on making dinner," Mrs Weasley said, giving Mavis' arms a gentle squeeze before walking off.

"Back again are we, Mavis?" Fred asked, jogging down the stairs to greet her.

"Wasn't you round a couple of days ago?" George questioned, walking behind his twin.
