Denni smirked as she watched Piney head inside while Juice motioned for the all-clear. “Why does this remind me of when we were kids?” She asked with a chuckle.

Jax shook his head with his k and gave her a shove. “Because you were always getting into shit.”

She rolled her eyes and hoisted herself over the ledge and onto the fire escape. “Getting myself into shit to get your ass out of it.” She sassed. “Make sure to keep Happy on a short leash. These guys are going to go after his jugular because of what Hap did to one of the goons’ kids.”

Jax agreed and all but shoved her down the escape. “Go.”

She gave him one last smile and climbed down the rusty old ladder like she'd been doing it all her life. He stood watch as Juice and her loaded into the loaner. She ducked into the backseat and hid behind The driver while Juice put on his ball cap and sunglasses.

Once they were off the lot, he took a deep breath before he descended the ladder to see what was going on in the clubhouse. He could hear laughter and the low hum of the jukebox. He smirked as he saw the two goons sitting comfortably at the bar sandwiched between two croweaters.

Piney had slipped behind the bar and was going over the invoice. He'd made a point to overhype how important it Was to fix it immediately. All the while Tig was making them a special drink.

Jax sat on one of the old leather couches where Happy sat seething. “I sent her with Juice to the cabin,” ax explained. “Seems these two are linked with the crew he's been running from.”

Happy's brow rose at that piece of information. “We know who they are?”

Jax nodded. “Piney got Juice to run these two while Gemma had them distracted.”

“Gotta admit, the old man still has his wits about him.” Happy huffed. “Tig's over there making them some sleepy-time drinks. Then I get to have my fun.”

Jax looked over to where the chapel doors were now closed. “He talk at all?”

Happy shook his head. “He's been silent since I threatened him.”

Jax was about to ask, but the fat one had done a header off the barstool followed by his partner. “Show time.”

A rare smile spread across Happy's face as he almost jumped out of his seat to his feet. “Let's do this.”

Jax shook his head as he watched Happy, Tig, and Kozik do what they did best. He wasn't privy to the plan, but then again, some things were better left unspoken. He got to his feet and headed for the chapel to have a heart-to-heart with Clay.

It'd been nearly a decade since she'd been to the old cabin. Memories came flooding in as they drove down the long laneway. Her, running through the treeline with Jax and Opie, trying to hide from the men of Samcro, failing miserably.

A small smile rose onto her lips as she allowed the memories to take hold. The life of a legacy isn't an easy one. The constant fear and having to grow up faster than most kids had seasoned them for a life that was questionable if they'd survive. Although their childhood was less than ideal for most, she wouldn't have traded it for anything in this world.

Juice sighed as he parked the loaner and sat quietly for a second before he spoke. “How long have they been following you?”

Denni turned to look at the new patch and shrugged. “They've been poking around for the last couple of years. Mostly trying to run me off. It's escalated from them just showing their presence to now probably taking me to their boss so he can off me.”
