It wasn't common for the Baratie to send someone out in search of supplies.  However, Zeff put you to the job with Sanji to take a small boat to the nearest island.  It was about a day's worth of sailing.  However you and the blonde cook took everything you needed to last the trip.  The head chef made sure that you two would be back within a month at least.  The ship that was given to the both of you was smaller than the restaurant's however it was a good size.

"Look for a blue fin tuna, if ya see one of em make sure to get it.  I gave you a raise on your paycheck so it should be enough to buy a good amount of food.  Bring back as much as you can."  Zeff ordered.

"No problem, we'll be back within a month don't worry." Sanji smoked a cigarette as it hung from his bottom lip.

Opening the mast the two of you set sailed towards the direction where the nearest island was.  As long as you had your compass it would be easy to get there.  You had a list of all the things that Zeff wanted for the restaurant, it would have to be hauled back on the ship of course.  Sanji came by as he sat next to you blowing the smoke out from his lips,

"I didn't think the old man would let me go with you.  Usually he just wants me in the kitchen."

"You wanted to go with me though."

"Well yea, of course I did.  I didn't want you to go alone, it's dangerous, plus I know a couple things on the list you might not recognize at the market," His eyes pointed towards a type of fish called Spickelfin Filet,

"This one is a very expensive fish, you only get them in small mignon amounts, never buy them whole.  They'll rip you off."

He stands up and goes back into the ship and to the kitchen area.  He begins to chop some onions and throw them into a pot.  He cuts up some carrots, soaking them in chicken broth, and adding some spices.  He adds them into the pot with the onions.  He cuts pieces of chicken with his knife sliding them into the boiling pot.  Sanji puts the lid over the top and exhales smoke out of his nose.  He adds a bit of salt and pepper, then let's it sit for about 20 minutes on low heat.

Going back out to the deck he placed his hands in his pockets. He made sure to tell you as long as they kept going in the same direction it wouldn't be difficult to find the Island right away. He pulls out a cigarette and lights it with his gold lighter, then he snaps it shut. A puff of smoke escaped his lips, the wind blew through his hair as he leaned against the ship.

"It's nice to have the smell of food cooking aboard the ship at least, it's almost like you bring the restaurant with you." You said standing by his side.

Sanji looked towards you, "I don't bring the Baratie with me, I just bring my cooking skills with me. I've always loved culinary ever since I was a child."

"What are you making?"

The blonde cook grinned, "Jus some good ol' chicken soup. Nothing fancy."

"Has Patty ever realized you were the better cook?"

The chef sighed, "Of course he did. He just never expresses it. Everyone in the kitchen knows I should be running the joint. But, you know the old man is stubborn," he slid his hands into his pockets,

"He was a grumpy bastard that choose to be a cook of a ship. He's got years on his belt, I respect him for that. He also taught me some things too in the kitchen that I didn't know about. I hated being a waiter though, it was my least favorite job, I don't care if I have the looks or not. I just wanted to cook for people, not just serve them. However...,"

Sanji pulled the cigarette out of his lips with his pointer and index finger. He blew another drag of smoke,

"He did teach me to respect my customers, mainly the women. Women should be more respected in our society. That's why I care about you more than anyone else other than Zeff. Really only few women in my younger years really saw who I wanted to be. It's great really."

The cook smiled with his eyes closed and his head up high. There was nothing more you could say back to him other than agree with a cheerful gesture. Sanji then turns and goes back into the ship to check on the chicken soup he had been making.  The ship creaked as it sailed across the East blue, it wouldn't be too long now before they reach the nearest island where the markets were.

The both of you slept through the night in the sleeping quarters after eating his tasty chicken soup.  It seemed like a quiet night at first until the waves started getting a little higher.  A great crack of thunder rolled through the darken skies.  Sanji awoke frightened as he turned and saw the lighting and the storm approaching.  A heavy rainfall came down upon the ship as the waves rose.  The chef ran to the back of the ship and pulled the rope opening the large mast.  You took the wheel as you maneuvered the vessel through the storm.  Another bolt of lighting came down and you were frightened by it.  Sanji took the wheel and helped you guide the ship through the storm.  The waves rose higher and higher.

A great monstrous wave rose in front of the ship.  There wasn't much you could do, you and sanji run into the hull of the ship shutting the door.  The giant wave crashed down onto the ships deck, the entire vessel shifted.  You screamed grabbing onto Sanji for dear life.  You thought the two of you were about to die on this little ship.  The chef pulled you into his body with his arms wrapped around you not thinking about letting you go. The ship creaked as another wave crashed onto the deck shifting the ship violently.

And then everything for you turned into complete darkness.
