"Hello, Agent Y/Ln, it's Dr. Redmond from the coroner's office," the male voice cuts through the phone. "Oh, hi, give me one second, let me just-" I walk to the table as I put my phone on speaker and place it in front of JJ and Tara, "Okay, you were saying?"

The coroner clears his throat before he speaks. "We got the results of the tox panel back," he informs us. "Okay, and what were the results?" I ask, rolling my eyes at Tara. She makes a face back at me, remembering his behavior with us yesterday. "Well, there were definitely no drugs in their system," he says. "Did you check for the smoke inhalation, like I asked?"

"Uh, yeah, I did," he hedges. "Okay, and..." I'm irritated that I have to draw the information out of him, and my voice clearly shows it. "There were signs of smoke inhalation in all of them except the oldest children," he responds. "Damn," JJ mutters to herself. I grin at her. "Thank you very much, Dr. Redmond," I say sugary sweet before hanging up the call. "Douche," I say to my phone before turning to JJ and Tara. "Well, it's official, Spence and I won. And now we know that this unsub isn't going to back down without a fight. It's going to be a suicide-by-cop situation," I tell them.

"Which means we have more information to help us narrow down our suspect pool from three to one," Emily jumps in, coming closer to the three of us. She pulls out her phone to call Luke and Spencer to update them on what we learned. "Okay, I need to take a break and get food, I've been suffering in silence and if I don't eat anything I'm going to pass out," I whisper to Tara and JJ.

They nod in agreement. "Yeah, we should eat," JJ says, instantly going into mom mode. She grabs her phone to look up restaurants nearby, and finds one a few blocks away from the precinct. "We can probably take a short break and go here," she shows us her phone. "That's a good idea," Tara decides. "As long as we are driving, I'm not about to walk any further than I have to," I tell them.

"I can drive," Tara offers. "Where do you think you're driving to?" Emily gets off the call in time to hear us making our plans. "To get food so Y/n doesn't pass out," JJ says blandly. Emily's gaze jerks to me, and I shift uncomfortably under her concerned gaze. Tara stands and pulls me and JJ with her. "We are taking our lunch, we'll be back," Tara says to Emily.

She waves us off, even though I can see in her eyes that she would rather not let us out of her sight. Or more specifically, me, out of her sight, because as we leave, I can feel her eyes on me the whole way out of the building. I breathe a sigh of relief as we get into the car. As Tara starts the car, the three of us jump as the music powers through the speakers, still blasting from this morning's drive. I immediately turn it down, my heart racing.

"Ouch," I deadpan, and we all laugh as we drive to the restaurant not even two minutes away. We order our food, and sit and wait for it to be ready. I fiddle with my phone, contemplating if I should text Emily to see if she wants anything. In the end, I do, only to try and start to make nice with her.

Me: hi, would you like anything from the restaurant? I can send you a picture of the menu.
Me: *attachment: 1 image*

To my surprise, she answers instantly.

Prentiss✨: The chicken wrap would be nice. I'll pay you back.
Prentiss✨: Thank you Y/n.

I get up from my seat and head to the counter, to order Emily's food. I come back to the table, and Tara and JJ look at me with curiosity. "I ordered food for Emily," I explain softly. "That was nice of you, considering she's thinking about suspending us and firing you," Tara says. I shrug, "I figured I should probably start fixing what I fucked up."

"You didn't fuck up, Y/N," JJ surprises me by saying, "I would have done the same things you did if I was in a similar situation." Tara nods in agreement, "Honestly, I would too." I stare at both of them. "But it's a mess, and it's all because of me," I respond.
