Chapter Twenty-Two

Jeremiah pulled into the Medina's driveway. I sat in the front passenger seat as Jeremiah drove while Max and Elena sat in the back seat. Elena was knocked out. I originally didn't come with the three of them, but I promised Daniel I would watch over Elena. Since Elena was incoherent, I had to make sure she made it home safe, to fulfill my promise, obviously. I trusted Jeremiah but I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep tonight unless I saw with my own eyes she made it to her own bed.

Nicole got upset with me. As we were leaving, Elena could hardly walk on her own so I grabbed her by the waist, pulling her into me so I could help her. Nicole saw us together and argued with me, as I held Elena, that I was supposed to spend the night. As this was happening, Elena leaning against my body for support, laughing. What a brat. I was, originally supposed to spend the night with Nicole. But, that was all before the events of what happened tonight, happened.

I turned back to look at Jeremiah. "I swear Elena Medina is a pain in my ass," I sighed.

"A hot pain," Jeremiah said, smirking.

I looked at him dumbfounded. "What does that even mean?"

Jeremiah laughed shrugging his shoulders as I just shook my head. "You know what I mean!" He said as I groaned, hopping out of the passenger seat. Yeah I knew what he meant. Elena was more than hot though, she was gorgeous. A beauty I have yet to witness in any other female I've met.

"No I don't and you're an idiot," I shouted as I opened the back passenger side door but of course I wasn't going to tell any of that to my brother. Elena was sound asleep. Not even my yells at Jeremiah stirred her awake. Her breathing was steady and her face had a small smile displaying the cute little dimple on the inner corner of her lip that I adored. I wish I knew what she was dreaming about that made the ghost of her smile linger amongst her face.

I reached over to unbuckle her seatbelt. My chest grazed hers as my face dipped down towards her ear. "How you managed to fall asleep in less than a ten minute drive is beyond me, princess," I whispered.

I wrapped one arm around her back and the other underneath her legs carrying her in my arms. I walked towards the front door where Jeremiah was waiting for me. My heart skipped a beat when I felt her curl closer against my chest. My grip around her tightened.

"The door is locked," Jeremiah said as I approached. "Does she have her keys?"

I titled my head to the right. "Grab my keys from my back pocket. I have a key to their place."

Jeremiah raised a curious eyebrow but didn't questioned as he did what I asked. Good. I wasn't in the mood to explain. As Jere quietly opened the door, I said, "Stay here and watch Max, I'll go take Elena up to her room and be back quietly so we don't make a lot of noise accidentally waking the Medina's up."

I wasn't afraid of Daniel waking up, he could sleep through anything. I've witnessed it first hand when he has spent nights over at my place. Sebastian and Sofia on the other hand, they were who I was afraid of finding me here.

I went up the stairs, struggling slightly. Elena wasn't heavy at all and she was tiny but man, I haven't worked out in months since I quit football and it was showing. I know Daniel and Sebastian go on early morning runs. Daniel had often invited me in the past but at the time I played football and used the summers to relax from training, so I always declined. But maybe now that I quit football, I should think about joining them to regain some of my strength back.

Luckily Elena's bedroom door was open and I walked in shutting it with my foot behind me. I gently placed her on the bed reaching over to grab her blanket tucking her in. I pushed in the edges of the blanket underneath her body so she's all curled up underneath. A small laugh escaped my mouth remembering the night of the bonfire when I did the exact same thing and she called herself a bean burrito not realizing I was the one doing it.
