Love Life (Sequel to Thug Life)

I just stared at her helpless body for hours, while she was connected to all these machines. I donated blood but she still hasn't moved yet. The doctors said since it was a harsh surgery on her body she was very weak at the moment and lacked energy. So they gave her pain meds that had her in and out of a sleepy state. I haven't moved an inch from her since they allowed us back here.  She's so small going through so much pain right now that I couldn't take or help heal her. It broke my heart inside and out looking at her in this predicament.

My phone has been blowing up and I honestly just didn't want to talk about the situation. I knew I would barely get a word out anyway without crying. So I sent out a quick text to my friends letting them know that I will talk to them soon.

"Um August said is there anything you want to eat?" Dess asked lightly. I shook my head as I just looked at Melody monitor. Dess and Jayda was here with me while Rico and August went to the house to grab a few things.

"I'm not hungry"

"But you have to eat something Missy" Jayda said

"I'm fine"

"She's not hungry" Dess said on the phone.

"Can he bring Melody's teddy bear that she loves? I want to have it here for when she gets up" I asked as Dess nodded continuing the conversation with August.

"I'll go get you a water or something out the vending machine" Jayda said standing to her feet and leaving out the room. I didn't bother to say anything to her because I knew she was going to ignore my wishes.

"They are on their way back" Dess said ending the call with August. I nodded my head as my leg began shaking up and down. As I sat there silently bitting my nails I heard the door open signaling Jayda was back.

"So I got some hot Cheetos for you, a sprite in case you have an headache, a bottle of water, and a pack of those peanut butter cookies you like" Jayda said as she sat everything on the tray. I nodded my head and turned my attention back to Melody. I just wanted to hold her but I couldn't even touch my baby.

"She's going to be okay Promise" Jayda said handing me a tissue. I grabbed it shaking my head as tears ran down my face. As they comforted me I heard the door open. August immediately came to my side hugging me as I cried in his chest. He rubbed my back comforting me as they exited the room leaving us alone.

I rested my head on his chest as I looked over at Melody. She was waking up so I went to her side immediately caressing her hair in comfort as she looked at us blinking slowly.

"I wish you wake up so I can give you the biggest hug" i whispered kissing her cheek softly as her eyes slowly closed again. Hanging my head down in misery, I wiped my face as she drifted back off to sleep.

"She's gonna be okay" August reassured

"This is all my fault. I should've -"

"You can't blame yourself for this shit promise" he said facing me, sighing rubbing his face. "listen I was meaning to tell you —" there was a knock on the door that made our attention shift.

"Sorry to interrupt" Dr. David said closing the door behind him. "

"It's fine" I said wiping my tears from my face."bringing good news?" I asked eager to know what's going on with my baby.

"Yes actually. The test came back from the x rays and the bullet isn't fully removed. A piece is still right next to her kidney but it's risky to try to remove it" I shook my head in confusion

"So what does that mean?" He sighed

"In order to try to get the bullet we would have to do a major surgery again, which we don't recommend. But if it says it will cause problems"
