Sebastian, unbeknownst to Ophelia, had taken the initiative to secure her father's approval. On the day he formally asked Ophelia to court him, Sebastian penned a heartfelt letter to her father. In the letter, he expressed his genuine affection for Ophelia and proposed a meeting on the Halloween evening, Ophelia's 16th birthday. Sebastian suggested a get together in Feldcroft, his old home still under the ownership of him and Anne.
To his delight, Ophelia's father welcomed the idea with open arms. He agreed to keep the meeting a secret, intending to surprise Ophelia. A cryptic letter arrived for Ophelia, conveying her father's happiness for their blossoming relationship and hinting at future discussions to finalize the meeting details. Ophelia, brimming with excitement, shared her father's letter with Sebastian, blissfully unaware of his role in orchestrating the delightful surprise for Halloween. Sebastian, witnessing Ophelia's joy, recognized the significance of her family's approval and cherished the prospect of meeting them in the enchanting setting of Feldcroft.
Ophelia's dorm room was adorned with flickering candles and enchanting decorations as she woke up on her birthday morning. She was greeted with cheerful birthday wishes from her friends, each offering warm smiles.
"Happy birthday, Ophelia! May your day be filled with magic.", Ominis said smiling.
He presented her with a small box containing a magical quill set.
"Oh, thank you, Ominis! This is wonderful. But what exactly are they for? And why two?"
Ominis smiled knowingly, taking one of the quills and drawing onto his bare arm without any ink. He told Ophelia to hold the other quill and suddenly she felt a tickling sensation on the same arm as Ominis drew on. She looked down to see his drawing on her arm.
"Wow Ominis, that's so cool, where did you get these??"
"That stays a secret."
Next was Anne, who handed her a charming book with personalized annotations.
"Happy birthday, dear. May your day be as enchanting as the stories within this book."
"Anne, you know just what I love. Thank you."
Finally, Sebastian approached with a smirk, handing her a small box.
"Happy birthday, my darling. Brace yourself for a surprise."
Ophelia opened the box to find a delicate bracelet adorned with a tiny pendant, engraved with Sebastian's initial.
"Sebastian, it's beautiful! Thank you."
"Just a little something to remind you of me."
They all sat down in a cozy corner, sharing slices of a magically appearing birthday cake. The morning was filled with laughter, heartfelt conversations, and the promise of more surprises to come. After some time Sebastian excused himself, never coming back.
Ophelia spent the rest of the day searching for Sebastian, her curiosity growing with each passing hour. Unbeknownst to her, Ominis and Anne had been enlisted by Sebastian to keep her distracted until the right moment. At 5 pm, they guided Ophelia to a secluded spot on the Hogwarts grounds, where they finally revealed the secret.
They explained that Sebastian wanted to meet her in Feldcroft, in their old home. Ophelia, a mix of surprise and excitement, mounted her broom and headed towards the rendezvous. Meanwhile, in Feldcroft, Sebastian awaited with anticipation.
As Ophelia soared through the sky, her parents had already arrived and were engaged in a conversation with Sebastian.
Sebastian took a deep breath, his eyes meeting Elijah's as he gathered the courage to broach the important topic. The air was thick with anticipation as he spoke.
"As you already know, there's something I've been wanting to discuss with you, Sir."
Elijah, with a warm and knowing smile, gestured for him to continue.
"From the depths of my heart, I care deeply for your daughter, Ophelia. Our connection is something truly special, and I find myself drawn to her in ways I never imagined."
Elijah nodded, his expression encouraging Sebastian to continue.
"I've come here today to ask for your blessings, to seek permission to court Ophelia with the utmost respect for her and for you as her father."
Elijah, thoughtful and with a hint of humor in his eyes, responded.
"Son, your letter already spoke volumes, and it touched my heart. You have my blessings for this courtship. However, I appreciate your desire to ask in person. It shows a genuine commitment."
Sebastian, relieved and grateful, expressed his thanks.
"Thank you, Sir. Your approval means the world to me, and I assure you, I will cherish and respect Ophelia every step of the way."
"You truly are the young lad, our daughter described to us during the whole summer.", Helena said warmly smiling at him.
Ophelia entered the familiar warmth of the Feldcroft home, her anticipation growing with each step. The flickering candlelight revealed her family gathered in the living room, wearing smiles that hinted at something special.
Her father stood up walking up to her to embrace her: "Happy birthday, my dear!"
Her mother went up to her, too. Embracing her in a heartfelt hug: "We've been waiting for you, darling."
"Thank you! What's going on? Why all the secrecy?"
"Why don't you sit down? There's something important we want to discuss.", her father said calmly.
Ophelia took a seat, her curiosity piqued. The room held an air of excitement as her family exchanged glances.
"Before we explain, let's celebrate your birthday properly. Close your eyes, sweetheart.", her mother said excitedly.
Ophelia obeyed, feeling a sense of anticipation building within her. When she opened her eyes, she was met with the breathtaking sight of an ethereal ball dress draped over the back of a chair.
Ophelia gasps: "What...?"
"Happy birthday, my dear. This is for the Yule Ball.", her father stated happily.
The dress was an enchanting masterpiece, a blend of emerald green and shimmering silver. It flowed gracefully, reminiscent of the Scottish highland landscape.
Ophelia was stunned: "It's... it's breathtaking."
Her mother hands her a small box saying: "And there's more. Open it."
Inside the box was a ring, adorned with the family emblem – a green gemstone with a shimmering white dragon. Elijah explained how he had it crafted, sharing the family tradition that started with Susanne.
"We thought you might appreciate a touch of tradition. Just like you're other two siblings."
Those words hit Ophelia hard, remembering the crucial event that happened just a few years ago. Not wanting to think about it any longer, Ophelia focused on the moment with her family she has just now. Despite her tragic thoughts, her heart swelled with gratitude, as she hugged her parents tightly.
Ophelia teared up, both for gratitude and also because of the thoughts, still haunting her, seemingly not leaving for the next time: "Thank you, Mum, Dad. It's the most beautiful gift."
Sebastian reappeared behind Ophelia: "And I have a little something too."
Ophelia turned to see Sebastian holding a small box in his hands. Her excitement grew as she opened it to find a pair of Scottish sweet pasties.
"A little taste of home."
Ophelia knew there was more to the fact that her parents came here.
"Now do tell. What else have you been visiting for? I know there's more."
