Elijah exchanged a knowing glance with his wife before turning his attention to Ophelia.
"Always a good intuition, that's my daughter. Sebastian here has been making some heartfelt plans for the two of you."
Ophelia's eyes flickered between her parents and Sebastian, a mix of curiosity and excitement in her expression.
"Plans? What kind of plans?"
Sebastian grinned, stepping forward to explain.
"Well, darling, I wanted to make today special. You see, I asked your father for his blessings."
Ophelia's eyes widened, her heart skipping a beat.
"You did?"
Elijah nodded, a warm smile on his face.
"Yes, he did. And, my dear, you have my blessings for this courtship."
Ophelia's eyes glistened with surprise and joy. She turned to her mother, seeking more details.
"How did this happen?"
Her mother, with a blissful smile, recounted the events.
"Ophelia, it all started with a heartfelt letter Sebastian wrote to your father. In that letter, he expressed his genuine feelings for you and asked for our blessings. Your father was moved by his sincerity, and it was an easy decision for us to support your blossoming courtship."
Ophelia's eyes widened as she absorbed the details, a mixture of surprise and warmth filling her.
"A letter? You wrote a letter to Dad?"
Sebastian nodded, a tender smile on his face.
"Yes, Ophelia. I wanted your father to know the depth of my feelings for you and my intentions. It was important to me that I had his blessing. I wrote it the night I asked you."
Ophelia's jaw dropped as her mother continued, painting a vivid picture of the moment.
"And then today, he orchestrated this surprise in Feldcroft. Your father and I arrived, and he formally asked for our blessings in person. It was a beautiful moment, dear."
Ophelia's heart swelled with emotion as she realized the lengths Sebastian had gone to secure her parents' approval. She turned to Sebastian, gratitude and affection evident in her gaze.
"Sebastian, I never expected all this. Thank you for making it so special."
Sebastian smiled, his eyes reflecting the depth of his commitment.
"Anything for you, Ophelia. I want our journey to be filled with these moments, creating memories together." He pointed at the necklace she gave him the night in the forbidden forest.
Sebastian, ever the gracious host, gestured towards the cozy table set with a steaming teapot and an array of delicious scones.
"Shall we sit down and enjoy some tea and scones? I thought it would be a fitting celebration."
The group gathered around the table, each taking a seat. Helena couldn't contain her joy, still marveling at the unfolding events.
"Oh, Sebastian, you really know how to make a woman feel special. Tea and scones on our very first family meeting. Why haven't you put a ring on my daughters finger yet?"
"Mummy, we're sixteen!"
"And? I don't see a problem, I was 17 when I married your father."
"Okay, but it's not like a hundred years ago, times changed."
"Ophelia! I'm not that old.", pouted her mum.
Elijah chuckled and ordered to get back to the previous conversation.
Ophelia, feeling a mixture of emotions, couldn't help but appreciate the effort Sebastian had put into this surprise.
"Sebastian, this is incredible. Thank you for making this the best birthday.", she said softly smiling at him.
Sebastian looks at Ophelia: "Anything for you, my love. Get used to it."
As they enjoyed the delightful tea and scones, the conversation continued, blending laughter, family stories, and dreams for the future. Sebastian was effortlessly becoming a part of Ophelia's world, and they couldn't have been happier.
