a/n: angst and fluff, smut: unprotected sex (no condom, she is on a pill!)
Molly felt increasingly anxious as January went on and Spencer stayed with his mom. She missed him deeply. Each day without him felt like forever, and she longed to be close to him.
While she understood his need to be with Diana, the separation was hard. The days seemed empty without him, and she couldn't shake the feeling of longing for his presence.
The limited time they had recently only intensified Molly's worry
Now that Spencer was in a dangerous situation, the limited time they had recently only intensified her worry. The thought that he might not come back to her loomed over her, adding to her anxiety.
As she sat curled up on the couch in her cozy apartment, her mind in a whirlwind of worry and concern, she found it impossible to focus on anything but Spencer.
Despite her attempts to distract herself with television or a book, her thoughts kept drifting back to him, his safety and well-being consuming her every thought.
Spencer had confided in her earlier, explaining in detail the undercover operation he was about to embark on. It was a rare occurrence for him to go undercover, but tonight was an exception. He was on a mission that required him to step into the role of a husband plotting his wife's demise.
The gravity of the situation weighed heavily on Molly's mind as she replayed Spencer's words in her head. She couldn't shake the feeling of unease that gnawed at her insides, the fear of what could go wrong looming ominously in the back of her mind.
It made sense for Spence to be the one because he was not only unmarried but their relationship was pretty discreet. With her minimal presence on social media and their relationship having no digital footprint, she hoped it would be enough to ensure Spencer's success.
With a heavy heart, Molly wrapped herself in a blanket, her thoughts consumed by prayers for Spencer's safety and the hope that he would return to her unharmed.
Spencer sat across from the formidable hitwoman while Molly's heart clenched with worry and fear. She couldn't bear the thought of Spencer being harmed or worse, never returning to her side.
Molly desperately grasped at memories of their last moments together. She tried to remember the last words they said to each other, last time she looked into his eyes and he looked into hers. Last time he held her hand and hugged her. Last time they had sex and last time they woke up next to each other. What if they were the last ones, and Molly couldn't recall their details clearly?
Despite her unwavering belief in Spencer's skills as an agent and profiler, Molly couldn't shake the nagging fear that anything could happen in the blink of an eye. The thought of never seeing him again, of losing the love of her life, was too much to bear.
Her mind raced with a million 'what ifs'. What if something went wrong? What if Spencer never returned home? The uncertainty of it all threatened to overwhelm her, leaving her feeling helpless and alone in her anguish.
Molly whispered a silent prayer, her fervent plea echoing through the quiet darkness of her apartment: "Please, let him come back to me. Please, let him be safe."
As Molly's mind raced through every possible scenario, she was suddenly jolted from her thoughts by a sharp knock on the door. Her heart leaped into her throat, and she caught her breath, the sound echoing loudly in the silence of her apartment.
Spencer opened the door and found Molly seated on the couch as he entered.
"Spencer..." Molly breathed and turned around, relief flooding through her as she took in the sight of him standing before her. It was well past 1 am, but she couldn't have been happier to see him, standing in the doorway with tired but loving eyes that instantly washed away her fears.
