☮ Chapter 24 ☮

I slowly forced my eyes open as soon as I was out of dreamland. I knew, subconsciously, that I cannot afford to stay asleep for long. I knew, that we were in deep, deep trouble. I knew, that we were helpless. Nonetheless, I was ready to face whatever that comes at me, after all, I am only going to live once.

The movement of my hands and legs were restricted, binded by unbreakable metal chains. I scanned around the vicinity and could see no loopholes in this dungeon-like room that could offer us an escape route.

"Delphene, where-" I paused, trying to find Delphene. It was not until a second later that I realised that the abilitials were not here with us.

"Teacher, what do we do now?" I turned towards George and looked at the chains to indicate that we needed to get out of them so that we could find the abilitials.

"I have no problem getting myself out, what I worry about is the both of you." George looked at me and Isaac, ashamed.
"I should have teleported the two of you back..." He whispered under his breath.

"Free yourself from the chains first, and go out of this room to find things that will help us." Isaac commanded. "Find Dan and Delphene. They might know something."

I watched as George made used of elasticity to shrink himself such that the chain no longer binds him. I sniffed once as I am suddenly reminded of Shawn. I managed to stifle my desire to go home and reunite with my family.

"I'll find and confront Gemma, and settle the feud between us once and for all... Use both of your abilities to try free yourself from the chains. The chains are of the same kind as the cage Dan and Delphene will put in. Time limit should be about 4 hours from now." George stood up once he was freed from the chains and was ready to dash off.

Both of us remained silent.

Before I was able to ask how George was going to escape out of this dungeon with no apparent doors, George went forward to where a small crack on the wall resided, and with swift movements, he traced the small crack with his finger to reveal a projection on the grey wall.

I sat at one corner, astonished at what had just happened. How the heck did George know of this amazing creation?!

The projection read, 'Please enter your ID code." . Without further ado, George entered <Emma1836>, which to my surprise, was an unfamiliar name. I knew for sure that George could not possibly enter his own name, but who was Emma? The projection processed the ID code and proceeded with asking George for the password. I could not capture what George had typed at the front but I was pretty sure that the password ended with a <Tunnick> because he slowed down when he typed that.

Then, the grey wall opened which prompted George to go outside.

I had so many things that I did not know about George. If I had known, everything would become easier...I looked at Isaac who was sitting beside me and my eyes brightened.

"Do you know who is Emma?" I turned my head to where he is sitting.

He stared at me and frowned for a while before he spoke.

"Why are you asking me this?" He looked at the wall directly in front of him, not meeting my gaze.

"George typed 'Emma' when the projection requested for an ID code." I sensed that this was going to evolve to be something big.

Isaac met my eyes again upon hearing that. I knew that something was bothering him.

"Emma, that was my mother's name."

Even though I have already guessed that this was going to be a breaking news, I still could not believe my ears. George used Isaac's mother's Incredible ID code to escape?! Why would Emma's ID code even be valid?

"Remember when I told you that the old man sent both my parents to complete a mission so as to acknowledge my mother's powers?" I nodded. "I think he sent them to the dark meadows."

Pieces of information are slowly connecting themselves.

"Oh." I replied. Sensing the solemn atmosphere that had formed between us, I suggested that the both of us used our abilities to try lessen the time left for the chains to break itself. Isaac agreed and the both of us started on our escape plan.

"Time manipulation, activate. Make the time of these chains go faster."
"Space manipulation, activate. Make the size of these chains shrink."
Both of us chanted in unison.

When the time of the chains go faster, the time that is left of the chains decreases. When the time limit of 4 hours is reached, the chains will destroy itself.
When the size of the chains shrink, it will slowly become smaller. When the chains tightens against Isaac's skin, it will then be destroyed.
