The Incredibles

☆ Chapter 18 ☆

"Smooth the movements." The man chanted while directing some of his warm and bright aura at my legs.

As a result of that, I immediately stopped in my tracks. I heaved a long sigh of relief as I have just merely evaded the dark power of Jasper.

I could see Jasper's face turn into fury as he started to spit curse words all around.

"Damn it. Who are you?!" Jasper literally screamed his lungs out. I turned to catch Asper frowning, ready to say something. He looked troubled. Within a millisecond, Asper disappeared from beside Isaac and was standing beside Jasper.

Teleportation. Asper's ability as an Incredible is to teleport. But he has not shown his dark powers yet.

On the other hand, Jasper's dark power is probably his formidable shield. His power as an Incredible is still unknown.

Jasper's nostrils flared and heat waves were forming on top of him. The mood was intense and the air around felt heavy. Sweat dripped down my hair and my heart was thumping hard. I was panting like a dog.

"It's the old man..." Isaac was standing behind me before I realised it. He must have moved from his original spot to communicate that piece of information to me, now that Asper is out of his way. My eyes brightened upon hearing that.

At last, the mystery man wrapped in bright aura revealed himself. An old man with a white beard hanging down from his chin and dull blue eyes, George turned to face me and Isaac with an emotionless face.

"George Tunnick." Asper spoke with a soft but hateful tone, standing beside Jasper.

Jasper and Asper knew George?

My curiosity was aroused and I felt like asking one of the trio about what happened. The mood was still as intense as ever.

D: Sherrie! Are you alright?!

Delphene communicated to me through the mark of contract.

S: Still in one piece. Do you know what happened between them?

D: I think I know a little... The feud between them is related to the 'Meadows Revolution'.

S: Meadows Revolution?

D: Its when the Paradise Meadows became the Dark Meadows now.

S: Tell me more about it when I retrieve you.

I ended the telepathy between Delphene and me when I saw advances from George towards us. He whispered the words 'retrieve your abilitials while I distract them', with each word articulated carefully, to ensure that the both of us could catch what he was saying.

We nodded our heads in sync and was prepared to dash towards Delphene and Dan respectively when Jasper and Asper gets distracted.

"George Tunnick. We still had the last battle to determine the winner and loser," Jasper called out to George. "Asper, make sure the two powerful Incredibles and their abilitials don't get away."

"How about we have a 2 to 1? Both you and Asper attack together. You alone are not enough to beat me." George spoke coldly. He was out to agitate Jasper and Asper. If he fights both of them together, our job of rescuing Delphene and Dan would be made easier.

"You wish to have a quicker death? Fine with me, as long as I secure the victory. But I'm not that dumb to let the two young Incredible that holds immense potential in them escape with their precious abilitials." Jasper showed a sinister grin.

If Jasper and Asper fought George together, Asper would not have time and mind to keep watch of us...how is Jasper going to ensure that we do not escape?

"Noted, brother." Asper replied to Jasper ambiguously.

I nudged Isaac.

"Have any idea of what's going on?" I murmured.

"Maybe it's Asper's dark power that was not yet revealed." Isaac's mind was obviously more agile than mine.

Before I could say anything more, Asper started chanting his spell. My heart dropped a level as I heard the contents of the spell.

"Clone." Within a second, a copy of Asper surrounded in the same ominous dark aura appeared.

"Seems like we have to face Asper's clone before we can rescue Delphene and Dan." I exclaimed, already in my battling stance.

"I'll fight him, you go and rescue Dan and Delphene. The fight we had just now was incomplete." Isaac pushed me away after that.

"Fine, if you fail, I'll take him on. Oh yea, don't let the clone land an attack on you...you know that at least right?" I gave in to Isaac's request reluctantly. He did have a good excuse to fight Asper.

"Yea. We can't afford to get hit by the dark powers. Dan told me that." Isaac replied. His stance immediately changed when Asper's clone walked towards us.

I glanced towards George's fight. George was efficiently blocking himself from attacks made by Jasper and Asper. From the corner of my eyes I then saw Jasper disappear at a distance from George, seconds before reappearing right behind George. George had suffered a severe punch at the back before Jasper reappeared with a smile on his face.

Could Jasper's Incredible ability also be Teleportation? But teleporters couldn't land attacks while they are teleporting.

However, despite the advantage to disappear then appear again, George seemed to be aware of the movements and strategy of both his opponents and responded quickly to wherever Jasper and Asper reappeared at. The only time he was hit was the first time when Jasper used his ability.

I heaved a sigh of relief when I realised that George was overpowering the brothers.

My line of sight soon switched back to the fight between Isaac and the clone. I stood at my original position, waiting for Isaac to create an opening for me to reach Delphene and Dan, by leading the clone further away from the abilitials.

That's the thing about clones; they don't seem to have brains.

Isaac's punch on the clone's stomach seemed impactful, that the clone bended it's body. I was elated to see the clone being hit so easily. The clone was not a threat as huge as what the real Asper could have posed. It was evident that the clone was much weaker than Asper. That served as a great relief to both Isaac and me.

My eyes were fixated on Isaac's fight, so that I could immediately rush to Delphene and Dan who were trapped in a cage this whole time, when the opening was huge enough to be considered safe. Isaac was deliberately going more to the side as he fought the clone.

Finally, the distance between the clone and abilitials reached a safe point. Without hesitation, I ran to the cage that Delphene and Dan were trapped in. I meddled with the magical cage that was very durable. No matter how much strength I exerted on my punch to the cage, it still wouldn't budge.

"Delphene! What on earth is this thing made of and how can I break it!" I was frustrated at my multiple failed attempts to injure the cage.

D: This cage is unbreakable. You will have to wait until it reaches it's limit, it will disappear by itself by then.

"And what is that limit?"

D: If I am not wrong, it can still last for 3 days.

"We don't have that much time!!"

D: Sherrie! We can still use your ability. Like make the time of this cage go faster.

Realization struck me when I heard that.

"Yeah, right! Time manipulation, activate. Make the time of this cage go faster." I recited.

Author's note: Hello guys:D I know that the ending is abrupt but I couldn't help it! This chapter is already longer than the rest ahha...I had to put an end to this chapter somehow😅!! And i had the same problem with the damn italics again😭
