ISAAC'S POV
After what seemed like eternity but in reality was just an hour, I watched as the chains disappear into thin air. I gave into my exhaustion and slammed my body against the ground. I turned my head sideways to see Sherrie on the ground too. I stifled my giggle and looked away from her direction.
After a while, the seriousness of our predicament hit me once again and I immediately got up.
"We should get out of this place." I told Sherrie anxiously.
During the last one hour we have spent trying to get ourselves out of the chains, I had been doing some thinking. A lot of thinking, in fact.To start it off, my family had lived happily until I reached the age of 7. That night, old geez suddenly barged into Dad and Mom's room and wanted to talk to them. I was left alone in the room and was obviously curious about their conversation. I slightly opened the door and stuck my ear out. They were out in the open field, which was just outside the room. However, because of the surrounding noise created by the strong wind that night, I couldn't catch a single word exchanged between them. I tip-toed to the field and tried to conceal myself within the darkness. By the time I reached a spot where their conversation came audible, the only sound I could pick up on was sniffles.
Mom was crying.
Instantly, I knew something was wrong. What could have happened? I stand frozen on my spot for some time before Dad started speaking again.
"As you wish, Dad. Emma and I will go to the dark meadows and prove it to you, prove our loyalty to the Incredibles." Afterwards, my parents went straight back to their room. I immediately went towards the direction of the toilet. It will be bad if they knew that I was listening in the conversation. When I came back from the toilet, I entered the room with hesitation. Upon seeing me, Mom immediately hugged my small body.
"Where did you go, dear?" She whispered into my ear.
"Toilet." I said just like how I rehearsed countless times along the way back.
"Oh." Mom sounded relieved, then she took a deep breath in to calm herself down before speaking again. She set me on the ground in front of her gently.
"Isaac, Mom and Dad are going on a mission tonight. Be good and obey Grandpa at all times, alright? We will.....be back soon." That did not sound the least bit persuading. Then, Dad came and carried me up, planting a kiss on my cheek."Bye sweetheart..." With that, they left me. Everyday, I would sit at the end of the mountain, hoping to see Dad and Mom come back. I did that for several weeks, before realising that they will never come back again. I asked old geez for details about the mission he had sent them on, and all he did was to tell me that it was a mission to test my mother's skills. My hatred for him grew from that day onwards.
Back to the present, I started to think that Mom, just maybe, might have began to work under Gemma since she was captured by him during the mission. That was probably why her ID was registered in the system. But then again, why would the old man know of this? He couldn't have came to the dark meadows to learn that Mom was captured and works under Gemma in this period of time, since Jasper and Asper said that they have not seen him since the fight between Gemma and him.
If he knew, why didn't he try to save them?!
"Yea, we totally should. I guess we could use the same method George did to get out." Sherrie disrupted my thoughts, to my benefit. I should not think too much into this without really knowing what had happened.
Both of us tries to stand up with much difficulty. No good, our legs are numb from sitting down for so long. Sherrie reaches her hands out to me, indicating that we should help each other up. Upon getting the message, I held her hands and both of us attempts to stand up. The first try was unsuccessful and we landed back on the ground due to the lack of coordination. Both of us laughed. Then, we stood up and made way for the wall.
We went to the exact position old geez had once stood and traced the small crack on the wall to reveal a projection on the grey wall. I stood forward and entered Mom's incredible ID.
The projection then changed to read "Please enter your passcode." I turned to Sherrie and shot her a puzzled look.
"Erm...George entered something that ended with a 'Tunnick'. It should be one of your family members...but I'm not sure." She laughed sheepishly. If it ended with a 'Tunnick', then the password should be...that. Mom's password had been the same since I first knew of it. I proceeded to type 'DavinTunnick' on the keyboard provided. My heart thumped hard against my ribcage as both of us waited impatiently for the system to quickly register.
To our utmost disappointment, the projection that greeted us read "Unauthorised Access" for a few seconds before the grey wall parted to reveal the outside.
Something feels wrong.
Before we could react, Jasper and Asper's heads popped out from the sides of the door, and I jumped upon seeing them. Have they realised that we tried to break out of the dungeon?
"Good to see you guys again, Incredible Priests. The King have courteously invited both of you to his afternoon tea. Along with George Tunnick, of course." Jasper announced sarcastically as he handcuffed our hands.
