"Delphene, can you bring me water?" I commanded Delphene as there was no way for me to complete that action by myself...
"Sure!" Delphene replied enthusiastically. We were into the first hour of the three hours long training. My arms were already sore and red. Perspiration formed on my forehead as I had to generate sufficient energy to be transported to my arms. The process was horrible. To add on to the burden, it was midnight and I was exhausted from the morning training; I had to sleep. However, much to my annoyance, it was not possible for me to sleep with both my arms stretched up and held high. I was also too tired to think about methods to incorporate my ability into this training. My eyelids were heavy...
"SHERRIE!"
I was immediately awoken. I scanned the vicinity to find the source of the voice. It could very well be George and I was terrified at the thought of it. Just as I turned to my side, the sight of an overwhelmed Isaac caught my eye. I was confused at his expression but I did not query further.
"Sherrie!" Isaac shouted my name again. I twisted my head to face him and shot him a perplexed look.
"Where's Delphene?" He enquired.
"I told her to get some water for me...but she's been gone for quite a long time." I was starting to get as anxious as Isaac upon realizing that something was off.
"Dan suddenly disappeared."
"What? Then Delphene..." My voice trailed off. There was no doubt that Delphene also disappeared. I felt uneasiness all over my body. Something was definitely not right. The abilitials would usually tell their owners before they would go back to the Meadows. And what did Isaac mean by 'disappeared' ?
I would wish to forfeit my training but I very well knew I couldn't. The strings that looked far too unique were probably created by George's ability, used to check on us to see whether we would cheat. According to my prediction, George should be lying on his bed, resting, while we are continuing with the monstrous training. Should we try to break free from the string, George would have been notified and we would be dead meat.
But wait. Maybe Isaac can help. I've got an idea.
"Isaac! Do you want to go find out what happened to Dan?" I looked at him in anticipation.
"Tsk, I'm already planning to do it." He said coldly. I looked at his hands and smiled.
"I had that same idea too, it just seemed that you caught it earlier than me. Now could you help me a little here? I'm anxious about what happened to Delphene too."
Isaac's pupil met mine and he approached me.
"Space manipulation, activate, cast a solid dimension between the strings." was the command he said. Without hesitation, I freed both my hands from the strings. Stretching my arms outward, I was glad that I finally got freed from the training. Isaac had created a temporary dimension of us, such that it would feel that we were still in the midst of training. However, since Dan was not there with Isaac and he is already tired from the day, his power was at its minimal and hence we had to find the way to get to the Meadows quickly, else George would have noticed our disappearance after the dimensional effect wear off.
"Sherrie, try to see the future because I'm sure we would have found the way to get to the Meadows in the future. That's the quickest way to find the way to the Meadows." Isaac explained.
"But Delphene is not with me now... I'm not sure whether I can handle the manipulation myself..." My string of worries got cut when I realised the importance to get to the Meadows to help Delphene and Dan. I then nodded my head and was determined to carry out the manipulation. This should suffice for the will that I needed to manipulate.
"Time manipulation, activate, make the time go faster." I chanted.
I slowly opened my eyes to see everything go faster. Yes, it was the absurd speed where it seems like everything is trying to camouflage with the surroundings. I stood there in silence as I watched how the future would be like. How nice would it be if I had a cup of coffee beside me and a chair for me to sit on. It would make the whole experience more comfortable.
I had my eyes fixated on what Isaac will do to go to the Meadows. Suddenly, I had a ominous feeling and I froze. It was George. George had found us out, even before we even got the chance to learn of the way to the Meadows. I saw George's mouth open and close in the speed of light like a retarded goldfish. He was speaking to us. He was speaking to us in a stern face. I was already sure of what he was speaking to us. He was reprimanding us. He was going to forbid us from going to the Meadows. He was going to let us continue our training for hours more. My heart was palpitating like nobody's business.
I cursed. Then I remembered that I should go back to the normal time and warn Isaac about what was going to happen, even if I did not find the way to the Meadows. The crisis that was awaiting us later was more important.
As I have always been quick-witted, I could guess the command to return the time inside me to normal. Well, you just have to say the command to activate in the polar opposite way.
"Time manipulation, deactivate, make the time go back to normal." I whispered.
Indeed, my calculations were absolutely correct and the time before me went back to normal. I heaved a long sigh of relief as I hurried over to Isaac to tell him what would happen.
"Isaac! George is going to find out about us cheating! Hurry! We have to find a place to hide, or rather, just go back to training!" I spoke as softly as I could.
"What? That old man will find us out so quickly?" He seemed confident about his own ability being able to withstand for quite a long term, but I was even more confident that my ability was not going to malfunction and fail me.
"Yes! He will be here in about a minute! We have to hurry!" I jumped back and forth and was in a dilemma on whether we should go back to the training or hide away from George. After much thinking, I decided that we should go back to the training as George have a high chance of having an ability that could identify the location of people. Just as I was running towards the training ground, I saw Isaac waving at me.
"This way! We should hide!" He pointed to a place behind the rock. "I'm creating a dimension here."
"No! We should go back to our training as since your ability is already being used currently, the dimension you are going to create wouldn't be reliable. George would have found us within a second." I protested.
We stared daggers at each other and stepped to our original places in the middle of the training ground unknowingly, in order to make it more easy to argue with each other.
"Isaac, Sherrie! " the old and unclear voice made the both of us have goosebumps. It was undoubtedly, George's voice.
