My eyes were squeezed tight and my teeth were gritted. The speed of my heart increased drastically and my face was moistened with all the sweat that formed. I could feel my energy draining out from my body. I was getting more exhausted with every second.
I need to save Isaac!
With that one last thought that generated sufficient willpower to enable me to succeed in using the new technique, I instantly felt a surge of immense power being transferred to me.
As I separated my eyelids, a bright beam of light entered my eyes that have been kept in the dark for long. Subconsciously, my hands were raised up to my eye level, so that I could see the effect of the technique.
Both of my hands were surrounded in the supernatural phenomenon called the 'bright aura'.
Without further ado, my feet moved towards Isaac, who was lying on the ground. He looked at me rather weakly in his ominuous red eyes as I knelt down in front of him.
I then directed the bright aura on my hands onto his wound that was injured by the dark power. As I continued with the treatment of Isaac, I could feel fatigue overtaking my already exhausted body. After all, part of my powers was still operating on the cage.
I forced my heavy eyelids open and kept my eyes stuck to Isaac's iris. The only way I could have known whether Isaac was reverted back to his own conscious was through the colour of his iris.
I celebrated silently when I noticed a slight change in the colour of Isaac's iris. It was a swirly combination of red and sapphire, though the ratio of red is higher that that of the sapphire.
However, at the rate in which Isaac is being reverted back, I would not be able to hold on any longer. Delphene had mentioned that 30 minutes will be my limit, and 10 minutes have already passed by now. I cursed deep within me as I doubted my ability on whether I would be able to save Isaac.
D: Sherrie... you can disable the manipulation on the cage to give you more energy. Focus on Isaac's healing...
Upon catching Delphene's hesitated words, I twisted my neck to where Delphene was. Simply too tired to even throw a word out of my mouth, the look that I gave her contained my thoughts.
I bit my lips softly and found my eyes all teary. The gaze that I gave her was gentle, indicating hesitation. If I had disabled the manipulation on the cage, Delphene and Dan might not go out of this Dark Meadows with us. The worst scenario that I could think of is that; we might never meet each other again after Jasper and Asper brings them to the king.
The cage cannot be brought out of the Meadows to the human world as it is made out of the Meadow's magical subtance too. If we were to ever attempt to bring the cage out of the Meadows, the force between the two worlds will repel the cage off, and the holder of the cage would be recognized as a 'rule breaker'.
That, is a basic knowledge that had been taught to me in the Incredibles school. The 'No Interference between Worlds' rule.Delphene in turn gave me a reassuring nod.
D: Don't worry, Dan and I have already thought of another way to free ourselves.
I doubted that sentence that came out of Delphene. Sure, she would say anything to spur me on to save Isaac.
I was forced to face the dilemma between saving Delphene and Dan or Isaac.
Just then, I found myself slowly losing my consciousness. 20 minutes have passed since I used the new technique. It was then, that I decided to trust in Delphene and Dan and prioritise Isaac's healing. I would not want my efforts on Isaac to go to waste after 20 minutes of torture. Besides, I believe that Delphene and Dan had really found a way out of their predicament.
"Time manipulation, deactivate. Make the time of the cage return to normal." I mumbled under my breath.
After the chant, I instantly felt better. Though the effect on me was not that huge, it was ample as a mental boost to me. In the back of my mind I was reminded that since I had received more energy, I should be more alive.
The aura around my hands increased in size and I continued to heal Isaac's wound. There was significant change of colour in Isaac's iris after another 5 minutes.
I'm only left with 5 more minutes to completely heal Isaac.
For the final boost, I exerted all of my energy and cells to concentrate on the maintainence of the bright aura. I stared hard at Isaac with heavy eyelids. Just that one more section of his eyes, and I'll be done. I reminded myself constantly about how important this boy lying in front of me was to everybody.
His eyes changed from red to the original sapphire. I was celebrating deep inside my heart and immediately drop to the ground, still conscious.
D: Sherrie you did it!
"Yea..." I smiled.
Isaac blinked his eyes and sat up. Upon getting hold of the situation through the communication with Dan, he stood up and was headed towards the fight between George, Jasper, Asper, and lastly, the clone which had went to assist Asper after he wounded Isaac with his dark powers.
However, he stopped in his tracks after a few steps and turned towards the cage.
"You're right Dan, I should prioritise getting the both of you out of the cage." Isaac finally spoke, in reply to whatever Dan had communicated to him.
How is Isaac going to help the abilitials out of the cage? I followed his movement to see him reach the cage...

This chapter kind of ended abruptly but you see, I wanted to keep the suspense! 😉 The description of some scenes is obviously lacking, but I tried my best!
