Oh how painful it is,
to wait for someone
who is never coming back

September 1995

Diagon Alley was rather quiet perhaps to quiet.  It normally was full of noise from the young wizards and witches buying all their equipment for school.

But this morning was far different it was eerily quiet, perhaps it was just to early for everyone to be out or even to cold. It was much colder this September then last, much darker.
Everything was much colder then last September.

The street was deathly quiet, only the faint echo of the howling wind.
But in the background a faint sound of laughter could be heard.
As the laughing got louder, it quietened very quickly.

The ginger haired Gryffindor had stopped in his tracks when he finally reached the alley. His sudden stop had coursed the dark haired Gryffindor close to his side to frown at her friends sudden change in behaviour but as she looked on to where he was looking she also stopped in her tracks.
Something clearly wasn't right.

"Anastasia we are leaving now" the ginger boy spoke grabbing her hand to pull her back the way they had just come.

"Shouldn't we at least have a look around"
Anastasia tried to argue back but from the look on his face she wasn't going to change his mind.

" Please Ana after the end of last year, we are not taking any chances" he spoke his voice sounded almost desperate.

His words set off another memory for her. Last year really did change everything. She lost someone else, she had to bury another friend again, the flashes of his life loss body littered her mind. She hadn't truly ever been able to talk  about what had happened that day because she was to busy helping her friends deal with their grief from his loss then deal with her own.

But they weren't the ones who helped Harry get Cedric's body out that was her. She had to carry his life loss body, all the while having to save a broken boy who didn't really have any chance of fighting back but then again neither did she.

She had known something was wrong she could feel it and from the look on Dumbledore face he knew as-well, the difference was she choice to do something about it.

She had apparated to reach Harry, something that Dumbledore had called stupidly reckless but he wasn't doing anything. All she could worry about was Harry, it never occurred to her that It was her other friend who would be the one truly in danger.

The truth was even though she managed to get Harry out, she was still to late to save Cedric perhaps. It wouldn't have mattered if she had gotten their earlier the 14 year may be an extremely gifted witch but she was certainly no match for her father.

Dumbledore was more than happy to remind her of this when she had gotten back, how foolish she truly was.

"You could have gotten yourself killed did you even think about that for one second "

"Must I also make you aware truly how little control you have over any of it"

"He would have killed you easily Anastasia or even taken you with him. How could you be so foolish"

She just stared at the old man blankly
"Perhaps if you had done something earlier, I wouldn't have felt the need to save my friend"

She shook the memories off to try and stop them from further flooding her mind.

"I'm sorry Anastasia I didn't mean to bring it up, I know how much he meant to you"  he signed
"I just know something isn't right"
