Christmas was Maeve's favourite holiday. Nothing could top this time of year for her.

Typically, Maeve would spend it with her parents celebrating their muggle traditions, but this year they went to Australia.

Something about her mother wanting to see giant spiders. Maeve had suggested she could take them to the Forbidden Forest to show her a true Acromantula, but alas they opted to not.

She wasn't that disappointed on that one.

This year, Poppy's gran had invited everyone to say with her. Kind of as a last Sweeting get together before the wedding.

Although Poppy's gran knew it wouldn't be the last time they ever spent Christmas together, she still wanted to mark the holiday. So they were all invited.

Maeve packed her trunk and she smiled, her finger tracing over the old Gryffindor engravings she had on there. The feeling of comfortable nostalgia took over as she examined every single one with great detail.

Pausing at the one where a snake was engraved. She remembered so vividly the time Sebastian did it, on the train ride home from sixth year.

"Come on you know if you weren't in Gryffindor you would've made a great Slytherin, now you have something to remember your favourite Slytherin by."

She snorts at memory, indeed he was her favourite Slytherin.

A knock on her door frame had her neck craned to see who it was, Poppy stood there in a white jumper grinning.

"Thank you SO much for doing those invitations Mae." Poppy came in and threw herself against her mattress. "Seriously I feel like a whole new woman."

"Yeah." Maeve scoffs. "Don't thank just me, Sebastian helped me." Heat rushing to her cheeks as she remembered how he also helped her.

Her toes curl thinking about how he had her an absolute mess within minutes on the table.

"Yes. Let's talk about that, shall we?" Poppy pushes herself up onto the bed to stare at Maeve.

"I don't know Poppy, things have been happening." Maeve clicks the locks on her trunk, avoiding eye contact.

"Exactly what type of things?" Poppy's brow raises.

"Well, we've kissed a few times." Maeve mutters, her ears going hot. She didn't even want to know how red her cheeks were.

"And that's it?"

"Poppy Sweeting." Maeve gasps glaring at her, her face was most definitely red now.

"You guys have had these moments where you just kind of stare at each other, it's rather uncomfortable." Poppy shrugs and starts chewing on one of her nails.

"We talked about what happened that night." Maeve said quietly looking back down at the snake engraving.

"What did happen that night?" Poppy frowns patting the bed beside her, Maeve sits down beside her.

"Well, we were talking outside. He brought up he had feelings for me and that I reciprocated them. Then one thing led to another." Maeve tilts her head to the side. "And then a miscommunication happened, I thought he freaked out and left. Turns out he was trying to follow Anne."
