Sebastian sat up with a cold sweat plastered across his forehead. His chest heaving as he tried to regain his composure.

He was no strangers to these nightmares.

He shivered as he pulls back the blankets, carefully as to not wake the woman sleeping beside him, and steps out of the bed.

Sneaking out of her room, he glances at her with a smile on his face. Her breathing even, her lips slightly parted, her blonde hair still in the braid he had done for just a few hours prior.

He slowly closes the door to her bedroom walking down to the bathroom.

With shaky hands he turns the faucet on, splashing the cold water on his face. He grips the porcelain sink as he glares at his reflection in the mirror.

The nightmares had begun in fifth year, while he was trying to fight for a cure for Anne.

When he had murdered his uncle.

The first nightmare after the catacombs had him holed up in the Undercroft.

Maeve had been the one to find him.

"Sebastian?" She whispered as she entered the Undercroft.

He barely lifted his head from its position in between his knees. His arms wrapped so tightly around his legs as he rocks back and forth.

"Are you alright?" Her voice strained as she neared him. Sebastian swallows to say something, but doesn't trust his voice so he just shakes his head. "I spoke to Ominis."

Sebastian's head snapped up at the mention of his friend, the one who wanted to send him to prison.

"I convinced him not to tell anyone." She whispered to him. Maeve sits beside him her back leaned up against the cold stone wall.

"Why?" He choked out.

"We all make mistakes." Maeve replied quietly, her hands resting on her knees. They stared out across the Undercroft. "You're a good person, you just... just got lost."

"I'm grateful for you. I am glad you came to Hogwarts." Sebastian whispers a tear rolling down his cheek.

"You have to promise me something." Her hand reaching up to brush away the tear that escaped. He shivered at her touch.

"Anything."

"No more dark arts. Please." Maeve pleads and Sebastian nods, his chin resting on his knees.

"No more dark arts, I promise."

"Thank you."

"I am forever in your debt Maeve Crawford." He whispers his eyes squeezing allowing a few more tears to fall.

Maeve doesn't reply but her hand rests on his upper back while he sobbed into his knees.

Sebastian had kept that promise. Never once using the dark arts since that moment, since the moment he let it consume his entire being.
