"WAIT, FREDDIE!" I shouted at him, as he walked across the quidditch field to leave. "WOULD YOU PLEASE STOP AND TALK TO ME!"
"TO TELL ME WHAT??" He turned and shouted back. "TO TELL ME THAT YOU CAN EXPLAIN?"
All eyes were on us, and I caught a glimpse of Sebastian, Imelda and other Slytherins staring at us. They were all close enough to hear us arguing. Some other students from other houses subtly got closer to hear the drama going on, including Garreth, Leander, Nellie and Samantha.
"... Or to tell me it's not what I think, maybe?" Freddie scoffed. "You know, I shouldn't be surprised. I didn't want to see it, but I knew from the beginning that you loved him."
"Freddie... I didn't mean for this to happen..."
"I never could've blamed you for still having feelings for him and ending things between us, or even just not starting them at all if you would've been honest." He shouted. "But I never would've thought you'd sleep with him while you were supposed to be with me!"
Everyone gasped, and Imelda looked death furious. In a matter of seconds, Sebastian was next to me.
"Look mate, it's all on me, okay?" Sebastian interfered.
"I'm not your mate. Don't you fucking dare try and justify it." Freddie replied furious. "You're no better, you know! Just choose one and be done with it! You're just lucky Maude was too naive to question you further about your summer. I'm sure Imelda practiced a lot the last two months. Which broom was she riding on is the question!"
Freddie turned around and left, leaving us all with that last remark he made.
Imelda now looked at me with a proud and arrogant look, then returned to practice with the other Slytherins. Sebastian was still next to me, looking at me and waiting on a reaction.
"Is that true? Did you have sex with her too?" I asked, shaking at the idea of him confirming what Freddie suggested. I should've guessed, but I was probably in denial regarding that possibility.
He sighed and tried to take my hands, but I moved them away from him.
"How many times?" I insisted.
"Five... Maybe six times... It was during the last half of the summer." He confessed.
"So much for thinking about me all summer and wishing to be with me..." I turned and headed back to the castle. "Don't you dare follow me. Go back to Imelda!"
As I walked back to the castle, Natty and Poppy ran to join me, trying to be there for me. Neither of them were sure what to do to ease my emotional outburst.
"I need to apologize to Freddie." I said while we were standing next to the fountain, near the library's entrance.
"Good idea... Just not now, maybe?" Poppy suggested hesitantly.
"She's right. You should give him some time to process. Wait until you feel he's less furious about it."
I spent the rest of the day in the library and met the girls for dinner at the Three Broomsticks. For obvious reasons, I didn't feel like eating in the Great Hall. Not wanting face neither Freddie nor Sebastian.
When I came back to my room that night, I found a letter placed on my pillow. I recognized Sebastian's writing on the envelope where it was written To my birthday girl. I changed into my night gown, brushed my teeth and made myself comfortable on the bed. I opened the letter and started to read it...
Dear Maude,
It saddens me that I will not get to see you on your birthday, or even send you an owl. I wrote this letter for you to open on your birthday only, so you better not have cheated!
