Maude's POV

"What were you thinking?" Ominis asked during breakfast on our first morning of Holidays. "Can't you ever fucking listen?"

Sebastian rolled his eyes upwards and sighed.

"He just rolled his..." I started.

"Oh, I know dear. That foolish prick has no secrets for me anymore." Ominis interrupted.

"Well, apparently I do and that seems to be the problem here." Sebastian let out sarcastically.

I slapped his shoulder, not in a playful way. Sebastian groaned to the pain of my slap that was rather stronger than I intended.

"Can you all please resolve your mess quickly so we can enjoy Maude's first and last Holiday here?" Poppy asked softly, trying to ease the tension at the Slytherin table where she was now welcome every morning.

Sebastian and Ominis sighed at each other, and I smiled at Poppy, indicating that she was right.

"Sebastian..." Poppy said insistently before clearing her throat.

"Alright..." He sighed loudly while putting his fork down. "Ominis, I'm sorry that I went back there behind your back."

"You shouldn't have gone back at all." Ominis replied.

Poppy cleared his throat again, in a way that suggested Ominis answer was not exactly the one we were waiting for.

"... But since it's quite the best apology I'll get from you, I'll accept it." Ominis scoffed.

"Good! Now let's all finish eating and enjoying that peace. We don't know how long it's going to last!" I joked.

Sebastian turned to me and after a few minutes while Ominis and Poppy were chatting together, not paying attention to us anymore. He sought my hand and waited for me to look back at him.

"I owe you an apology too. In fact I owe so many, as usual, but for now I'm sorry that I got angry at you. It was not my place, and I know you did nothing to hurt me on purpose." He admitted.

"As Ominis said, it's going to be the best apology I can get from you, so I'll accept it too." I scoffed, then showed a genuine smile while squeezing his hand so he'd know that I was just joking.

Poppy and I spent the whole morning in the room of requirements, while the boys were off doing Merlin-knows-what. As long as they were not ripping each other's throat, we were just happy to have some "girl time" every now and then, either the two of us up here, or hanging with Natty, Samantha and Nellie out of the castle.

"How are you feeling, after meeting with your father yesterday?" Poppy asked while petting Luna, the female unicorn in the grassland vivarium.

"I'm... Confused, I guess. Particularly about the memories I don't have. But to be honest, I'm still in shock and trying not to think about it... About what I did." I confessed, looking down at the grass.

"It must be hard. I'm sorry you have to go through this after everything you already had to experience." Poppy said with a concerned voice. "Whatever you need, I'm here!"

"I know, thank you. Same goes for you." I smiled. "But really I just need to get to the bottom of this."

"Oh, I know you do!" Poppy scoffed. "Just promise me you'll wait to know more and be prepared. I don't want you to get caught off guard by the evil siblings again."

I laughed softly at that nickname Poppy attributed to Eileen and Alfred. I nodded to indicate that I will wait, even though I'm dying to know where the damn shards of crystal are.
