Maude's POV
"Ominis, what are you doing?" I questioned my friend, worried he might regret his move later.
Sure, he did what he had to do to save Sebastian from the killing curse, but judging from the excruciating pain Marvolo was under, this was more than just to protect his best friend.
Ominis face softened again but switched to a horrified expression. He moved his hands around in front of him, as if he was examining them. If he could see, he would probably be looking at them with disgusts. Guilt seemed to have quickly taken over him. He dropped both his wand and his brother's, which also broke the cruciatus curse. Marvolo then stopped screaming and squirming. He remained on his back, his arms spread against the hardwood floor. No sound was coming out of him anymore, but we could see he was still breathing faintly, as his chest was rising.
Anne ran over to Ominis, took him in her arms and held him tightly as he slowly broke down in her embrace. I looked at Sebastian, who was already starring at me in shock. He quickly brushed away that feeling.
"Well, that was close!" Sebastian attempted to better the heavy atmosphere. "Thanks, Ominis."
Ominis remained silent, and eventually gently pushed Anne away. He picked up his wand and started wandering in the room, as if he was looking for something.
"Sebastian, I am so glad you are alright!" I said relieved as I headed for a hug with my boyfriend.
"I am just happy we are all okay, love." Sebastian placed a soft kiss on my forehead. We tightened our hug, before letting go.
Eileen finally got up; she was still recovering from the cruciatus curse Marvolo casted on her. When Marvolo almost killed Sebastian, then Ominis jumped in, I must admit I forgot about her. Even though the fact that I tried to get to her when she was first hit was one of the reasons why we momentarily let Marvolo take the upper hand on us.
"Father?" Ominis called out from afar.
Ominis kneeled next to his father and tried to find a pulse. He then casted Homenum Revelio. Although this spell could not allow Ominis to see his surroundings, he has a special connection to his wand that allowed him somehow to detect what was revealed, or not.
"He is gone." Ominis voice trembled slightly as he got back up. "The blast was too violent, and nobody attended to his injuries in time while the fight continued."
I walked over to Ominis and went to realise for myself that I killed my best friend's father. I was not sorry for the man. He was not a particularly good man, but family is still family, and where there is history, no matter good or bad, there is emotions.
"I am sorry, Ominis. I..." I spoke softly while placing my hand on his shoulder.
"Don't be. You were defending yourself, and he would've killed you anyway. Just only when the moment would fit his needs." Ominis replied. He turned around and walked over to his brother.
Eileen slowly walked to Sebastian, struggling to put one foot in front of the other without making a sure face from the pain. She than leaned and whispered something in his ear. I went back next to him quickly to try and catch at least the end of what she was saying to him, but all I caught was his answer. "Now is not the time. Don't worry, we'll get it done somehow."
She was pointing out that we still did not fulfill our part of the deal. Her was still not quite done either. I was still missing what was left to find of the other crystals. But that might be something I would not need her to find them.
Anne and Ominis helped Marvolo sit on the floor. His face seemed overwhelmed with confusion. He looked around nervously, as if he could not put pieces together as to what just happened.
