Chapter 32

Nature is beautiful. I love the tree's leaves and the grass that sways in the wind. Carrie has a beautiful garden. I walk along the path that courses through the plants. Some are so vibrant and others are just huge.

When I was younger my mother would always plant new flowers. She tried to teach me all about them and their significance but as I got older everything went out the window. 1..2.. The sound of my steps against the stone path. 

A bench came into view, white and fragile looking. I took a seat and gripped the edge of the bench. I feel something cool underneath my palm. I lift my hand up and bent my body down and looked at what I covered with my hand.

This is their bench. I looked up at the beautiful Jacaranda tree with it's purple flowers. That's my favorite tree the one I want to plant over Matt's grave. I got up off the bench and made my way back. I made my way back to my room. Every picture I pass is a reminder. I heard voices as I was nearing my room. 

Two doors down. There is no point in trying to be sneaky as the huge doors creak whenever opened. I pushed the door and made my presence known. Three heads turned towards me. Carrie an older man and...

Mate...Ma-

"Who are you?" I asked. My eyes narrowed to inspection. This guy is different from Matt, almost opposite. Black hair and dark eyes. Everything about him seems dark and...

I feel lost.

"Oh Elina this is my good friend and his youngest son," Carrie said. 

"I'm Geoff Worth and my son here is Jake Worth. It is a pleasure to meet you Elina."

I nodded. "Yes you to."
"Why don't you join us it concerns you the most." I took a seat next to Carrie and stared at Jake. His gaze is toward the window.

Just look at me...

"I'll start from the beginning, Alex and Ally are from the Soshames family or more like the 'Noshames'. They are after you Elina because of the power you hold. This family has done things no one can imagine. Surely you know of the awakening, and what happens to despicable beings. You need to keep and eye out for things, watch if people are following you."

"Yes I understand," I replied and looked over at Jake. Now he is occupied with his phone. Did he even look at me once?

"For our safety I will have guards on post outside my home," Carrie said.

"Great idea, now I want to discuss other matters with you Carrie-" Geoff talked with Carrie as I zoned out. 

I closed my eyes and opened them again to find Jake's mind link. His and Geoff's  are a golden yellow. 

Beautiful. 

'What so interesting about the phone?' I questioned.

Jake looked up and around the room with his brows scrunched together. 

'Why don't you look at me!' Jake turned his head and stared straight into my eyes. I feel the bond. 

'How are you mind linking with me?'

'It's a skill I learned.' I then saw Jake clenching his fist and slightly moving as if he wanted to get up. If I just jump in his lap-

'Are you okay?' I asked. Jake quickly got up and excused himself. His tall structure passed by. His scent...

"Um may I be excused also?" Geoff and Carrie stopped talking and looked as if they were caught off guard. 

"Yes go ahead darling."

I got up and left the room. Jake wasn't in the hallway but I smelled his scent towards the garden. I jogged to the garden and saw him standing in the shade. 

"I found you," I stated proudly. 
"What are you?" Jake asked.

"What do you mean?" He started unbuttoning his suit and took it off.

"I feel hot, really hot." He then took off his dress shirt and his muscles were fully on display. 

"Uh your shirt is off..." he lifted his arms above his head. Sweat at his hairline. But that's when I noticed his wrist.

"You have the mark."

"Ya on my wrist," Jake said and wiped his forehead. I took a step closer and pulled his arm down. 
"What are you doing?" I rubbed my thumb over the heart. "Your not supposed to have a mate, but now you do." Slowly the heart disappeared. 

"Your my mate," Jake whispered in my ear. I didn't notice how close he really was to me.

Another chance.

"My body is actually cooling down now," Jake said.  
"Let's go tell your father and Carrie," I say and lead Jake back into the house. I have a second chance to have a mate and love someone unconditionally. I am more grateful to have one as I know the many others do not have the privilege to have a mate. 

"And then-"
"Oh looks like Elina and Jake are well acquainted," Carrie said. 
"Son put your shirt back on," Geoff said. 

"We have news," I say which grabs there attention. 
"Yes?"
"Jake and I are mates." Geoff sucked in air and paused. 
"How is that possible? Jake was born with the heart curse."
"Aye now Mr. Worth it is not a curse, you just have to embrace it," Carrie defended. 
"Well I believe it is very possible," I stated proudly. 
"Yes it is since Elina already had a previous mate. He is my grandson though he passed away."

"Wait so I'm your second mate?" Jake questioned. I looked up at him and nodded my head. Jake backed away from me and left the room. I was frozen. He left me. In a quick second I was able to move again and I went after Jake. 

"Jake wait, please!"
Jake stopped and turned around. 

"Why should I so I can be your rebound!"
"NO! That's not how it is."

"Then how is it Elina? If your first mate didn't die I wouldn't be able to have a mate. I was basically someone on a waiting list."
"But Jake think about it, we both get a chance to have a mate. I first I didn't think it would right to have another mate, someone else to love unconditionally, but I'm accepting it cause this is what fate wanted. For us to both have a chance." 

Jake sighed and had his head down. I went closer to him and held him close.
"Jake I'm willing to love you more than anyone else, so please try for me."

Aye peeps! Sorry for the ridiculous late update. I've had a busy summer and I start school like this Wednesday so ya know lots of planning. But anyhow...
