🦎KIMIKO
November—2019🦎
I woke up to the sunlight hitting my eyes, the cause being my mom, who had flung the curtains wide open. I shot her a look.
"What's wrong? I thought you were a morning person." She quipped, I'm only a morning person when I go to sleep early.
Last night, I was filled with worry and a whole bunch of 'what-ifs.What if they don't like me simply because I am a girl? Or they behave differently around me compared to when they're alone with each other?
What if they look down on me? And the most important one, "Imagine they're perverts?"She glared at me.
"Don't start. I don't know why your father decided to place you among so many boys, but he has heard enough from me."
I couldn't help but grin. My mom's reaction to me joining a boy band was one of sheer fury. Rising, I stretched a little. I've had the goal to work out, yet it always seemed to get away from me. Now that I've joined a group, maybe it's time to set up a routine, particularly since they're boys; they'll likely be interested in building their muscles.
"Honey, you have a busy day, hurry and get ready." She tells me, but I'm still trying to wake up.
"But mom, I'm tired." I whined.
"I'll be downstairs making you breakfast, you don't want to keep them waiting."' She said leaving my room.
I rolled my eyes, taking a second to wake up. I finally got up went to the bathroom to get ready.
I managed to get downstairs just in time for breakfast, and fortunately, she was almost done. "Did you make your bed?" she inquired, giving me a piercing look. I paused for a moment. She then picked up the plate of food.
I waver my hands, stopping her in her tracks. "I did, I remembered!" I exclaimed.
She looked at me for a minute. "If it's not made, I'll make sure you don't forget next time." She playfully glared. And I laughed, kissing her on the cheek. She set the plate down, and I began to eat. Once finished, she paused to inspect my outfit and gave her approval.
After saying goodbye to my mom, my dad then drove us to the JYP building. We arrived at the JYP building. As we walked to meet Stray Kids, he detailed the dynamics between me, the group, and how I would blend into the existing system they have.
I wouldn't be able to participate in much with the group until their next album in 2020, which was disappointing but understandable, and I wouldn't be announced as a new member until then.
He explained that the reason for my immediate move into their dorm was to get to know them, observe their creativity in creating music, and watch their live recordings and dance rehearsals.
"The boys know there is going to be a ninth member, so don't worry." My dad clarified, he knew I was nervous about meeting them. But I don't want him to feel bad. I'm just grateful I get to even be in a group, boy, or girl.
"It's okay, dad, I'm not worried about that." I assured him, he looked a little relieved.
"Do you want some advice?" I nodded because he gives the best advice, especially when I really need it.
"If they seem like they don't like you at first, give it time, they're nervous too." I nodded, hearing those words calmed me.
"They aren't used to you. I'm sure once they see that you're a good person, they'll open up to you." He assured me. I felt a lot better than before.
"Thanks dad." The elevator doors opened, and we reached the floor of all the practice rooms. And my dad walked us down the hall to a somewhat large practice room.
On the other side of the door, you could hear loud talking, screaming, laughter... Should I be worried? My dad pauses checking his phone, saying there's something urgent he needs to take care off, and hurries off.
The confidence I had in me depleted when he walked back to the elevator. I have to do this by myself?? I opened the door slowly, I saw one familiar face and three other boys.
"Good morning." I say hushed. The three other boys looked so shocked and just stared at me. I gave them a timid wave, yet their shocked gazes lingered. A freckled boy glanced between me and Bang Chan, while another with puffy cheeks rose to his feet, his expression one of bewilderment as he stared at me.
"You weren't lying, she is a girl!" He pointed, and I looked at Bangchan for help.
"Guys, she's the new member." Bang Chan said, saving me from stuttering to say anything .
They looked at each other, then back at Bang Chan. "She's a girl." Another boy stated, he was shorter and skinnier than the other two.
Bang Chan nodded. "Yes, and she is a great dancer and vocalist, she learns quickly." They looked at back at me, and I just awkwardly smiled back at them.
"Ya, introduce yourselves and be polite." Bang Chan orders of them.
"We're always polite." The puffy cheeked looking one retorts.
"Hey noona, I'm Han Jisung, I go by Han." He said, bowing quickly, then winking with a confidence I do not have.
"Noona, I'm Lee Felix, but everyone else calls me Felix or Yongbok." The younger boy bowed and I did too.
"There's no need to be formal, I'm only a few months to a year older than you guys." I corrected, really don't want calling me noona it's weird, as if I'm my mom's age.
"I'm Seo Changbin, they won't call you Noona if you don't like it." He greeted and smiled.
"Thanks, my name is Akiyama Kimiko," I smiled.
"I'm very honored I get to be in this group, but I have to be honest, don't really know anything about stray kids since you guys debuted." I confess and they give me that surprised look.
"It's okay, it isn't required." Bangchan reassured me.
"I've heard hellevator, does that count?" I inquire. They shake their heads.
"It's a good star but we have so much more. District 9, Yayaya, Spread my wings-," Han kept on listing songs, too much to the point I lost track.
"Kim, are you listening?" Changbin snapped me out of the spiral of song titles. I nodded, not even knowing what he said.
"I said it's really cool to have a girl in the group." He chimed. I blushed, they were really nice and not what I was expecting at all.
"I think it'll make the group unique." Felix stated, and they all agreed.
"And don't worry about us treating you differently, you're apart of the family now." BangChan pat my shoulder reassuringly. I don't know what it's it but it made me feel warm.
"What I had in mind about meeting you guys is way different to the reality, you guys are so nice." I said embarrassed to speak my mind but said it anyway.
"I'm sure the others will be happy to meet you." Chan said, and my smile fades.
"W-what others? There's more?!" I stammer. Of course there'd be more boys. Why didn't I do my research last night when I was live?
"Yea, they were still sleeping when we left the dorms. I should actually go get them." Chan said, getting up and running out the door. I looked at Changbin, Han and Felix with worried wide eyes.
"Don't worry, they're kind too, I promise." Changbin said.
"Brownie?" Felix asked, holding up a clear container. I smiled grabbing one, it looked delicious.
"You can show us your moves, you got a song recommendation?" I nodded, and I got up, walking toward the music stereo.
"I have more than a few,"
