Chapter 12: The King Visits

The wedding had gone by and time moved on, but Charlie was determined to make the hotel work, she wanted to do a promotion on the TV for the hotel, Alastor wasn't a big fan to find out about it, but he agreed to help out as best as he could, mostly because Ruvine would nudge him when he seemed to disagree. However, as he and the others tried to get the promotion in place, Ruvine went with Charlie as she tried to contact Heaven about maybe NOT killing demons every year. She let the girl go in alone as she jumped when Charlie came out with a groan of slight anger as Ruvine gently took her hand in her own, her cane resting in the other.

"What's wrong little one? Did the talks not go well?" She asked her, seeing her scream quietly into her other hand as Ruvine gently settled them on a bench after she growled down a demon who rushed off.

Back at the hotel, Alastor had made a deal, not for Vaggie's soul, to make a promotion for the hotel that was of better quality than before, but with Ruvine, she nearly roared her anger when she heard the new time frame of the next attack. She sighed and led Charlie back to the hotel as she saw Vaggie running for them happily, only to pause at the sad look on Charlie's face and the slightly angry one on Ruvine's. She handed off Charlie to Vaggie as she made her way for Alastor who frowned slightly at her look, letting her sit in his lap as she gently rubbed his arm closest to her as he rubbed her hip with his free hand. The crew only knew of the failure of the talks when the news halted their promotion video, it left them confused and worried.

They tried to talk about the chances of convincing people to try and change but they all froze when an explosion rocked the building as Ruvine and Alastor looked at the ship of Sir Pentious, the snake freezing to see the two coming down from the balcony as they joined Charlie and Vaggie and Angel outside as Alastor chuckled.

"Alastor! Come! Let usss battle!" He barked, hissing out laughter as Alastor tilted his head slightly while Ruvine sighed quietly and shook her head as she leaned against Alastor slightly as she puffed out air in annoyance.

"Who are you again?" He chirped, radio static rumbling through his words, hearing Ruvine giggle slightly as she tapped on his arm slightly with her closest hand as she mouthed as if counting.

"He is the one called Sir Pentious, my deer, and he fought us recently, only to get slammed into the hellish portal you summoned." She chirped helpfully, seeing Alastor tilt his head again as he chuckled.

"I think I would've remembered him." He chuckled, the group watching Sir Pentious throw a slight tantrum as he huffed.

"I will defeat you and be recognized by the V's!" He huffed, watching some laugh at him slightly as Ruvine blinked as she stood up more straight, ears tilted forward as she shook her head and huffed.

"They wouldn't though.... Vox and Val promised me they would be better, though I know Val is struggling as he is a bit too used to his ways." She growled at the end, knowing the moth had lost his short nice streak as it was shown that Ruvine wouldn't forgive him fully for the incident and his treatment of Angel.

Elsewhere, Vox was working on minding the company he had built while Alastor was gone, only to sigh in frustration when Velvette video called him in frustration, Valentino was having another fit about Angel not living in the studio anymore, it left him walking to go deal with it as with the others, Ruvine had led a downed Sir Pentious inside of the hotel after Alastor basically thrashed him around. Charlie excitedly led the new resident on a tour as Alastor settled with Ruvine.

It wasn't long when Alastor left for a meeting with other Overlords as Ruvine wandered the hotel a bit, watering plants as Sir Pentious followed her with Nifty, and as more time passed. Charlie sighed when Vaggie convinced her to contact her father as Ruvine flushed slightly and Alastor hummed quietly when they overheard the call and news. They stood above the entry as Lucifer came in and hugged Charlie, spinning around slightly as he jumped in shock of the bar as he winced, only to jump in shock when he heard Alastor's chuckle as he turned, only to go wide eyed as he stared at the two who appeared before him. He had been the officiant of Alastor's wedding, but was awed by the doe next to him, Ruvine slowly bowing as Alastor gently did as well, Lucifer flushing further when she gently took one of his hands as she smiled brightly. Alastor held onto her other hand, but settled his cane under his arm as he gently shook hands with Lucifer before kissing the back of it.

"It is an honor to meet you again, the bar was my addition to the hotel, the plants you see around here are from our resident gardener and my wife, Ruvine. My doe, the King of Hell himself, Lucifer." Alastor chuckled, seeing Ruvine smile softly now as she squeezed both of their hands slightly, her cane settled into the crook of one of her arms, one which was scarred from the extermination battle in the past.

"It is an honor! Welcome to the hotel, my king, and I hope you enjoy your time here!" She chirped, only for the doors to burst open as Mimzy barged in, she took some of Alastor's attention as Ruvine went with Charlie, Vaggie, and Lucifer on a tour. While Charlie led them along, Lucifer was more focused on Ruvine who stayed near his side, seeing her slightly limp as her hooves tapped on the rug somewhat off tune.

"If I may ask... Is there a reason your steps are off?" He asked quietly, seeing Ruvine suck in a breath as she sighed and looked ahead, her hand closest to his taking it as she tapped a finger on his hand.

"Valentino decided to try and dominate me... I was shown that this world down here isn't as different as above... if not more bloody... and Alastor and I have agreed to let it go for now, as a threat was made in return and I have my apology. I am also injured from our most recent extermination before this now... early one coming up soon." She hummed uneasily, seeing him suck in a breath quietly before nodding faintly, as they joined Charlie and Vaggie on a balcony, the group jerked in shock when the hotel shook. They looked down as they spotted some sinners trying to break the doors down, Ruvine snarled as Lucifer opened a portal to the lobby, the group walking out just as Alastor chuckled and shifted forms, barging outside as he crushed, threw, and ate some of the sinners.

It left Lucifer in awe as Alastor basically told Mimzy to leave as Charlie saw Ruvine gently guiding the king to their side, the male sighing as he smiled and gently took Charlie's hands as he agreed to try and set a meeting in heaven for her, however, she would need to take one with her, as he couldn't go with her. Ruvine agreed to go with, and though Alastor and Lucifer seemed to disagree, they eventually accepted as Charlie smiled.
