Chapter 8: The Cleanse

Ruvine and Alastor had planned their song and routine, but as they rested in her home, the other demons of all circles, panicked, as the timer that showed when the next Extermination would begin, was almost down to zero. Everyone was either shutting themselves in their homes or arming themselves with weapons. Vaggie and Charlie were making sure any and all hotel members were present and accounted for. Husk was doing the topmost floors, Nifty was checking the middle ones, while Charlie motioned in any newcomers that either were coming last minute or just hiding.

Angel was checking room keys to make sure those who were not here, were coming in soon, mostly by texting his eyes on the streets. He did, however, realize he hadn't seen Alastor or Ruvine the entire day. He gestured to Vaggie who rushed over as he frowned.

"I ain't seen Ru or Al, did they ever come back from her place?" He questioned in worry, arms crossed and one hand tapping his hip.

"I never saw them return, and their keys are in the special lock box that Alastor has set for them..." She returned gently and quietly, not wanting Charlie to worry more.

They both tensed when Charlie shut the doors and locked them as over at Ruvine's house, she had just woken up and went outside to do her normal routine. As she hadn't been in hell long, she had never been through one of the Extermination days before, and so now jumped in shock when alarms blared across hell. Her head snapped up as she saw the red sky crack open past the trees that covered most of the domain as white light blared down, angels with masks slowly entering as she tilted her head confused.

"What...?" She never finished her sentence as one slammed in her domain, tearing branches off from some of the trees, and near her, spear pointed in her direction as she stared confused.

Her confusion didn't last long as they shot forward and tried to stab her, the weapon cut her shoulder as she dodged slightly. Her cackles starting as she shifted forms quickly and gripped their wings, swinging them around before throwing them to her plants that chomped down immediately. Inside her house, Alastor snapped awake at her cackling as he rushed out, after dressing, to see more angels coming as her plants now went on the defensive. Her animals joining her in battle as she cackled and snarled.

"I forgot about this day! Such a wonderfully destructive time!" He cackled and had tentacles wrap around an angel before crushing them alive.

"What is it!" Ruvine snarled, slashing at an angel as she dodged their spear, a hellhound mix biting down on them and burning them alive.

"Extermination day! The time where all demons fight each other, and angels come from heaven to fight us!" He returned before smashing his cane into one of their heads, laughing.

Ruvine could only continue her best to avoid dying to one of them as she howled in agony when a spear pierced her left arm, it made Alastor freeze in shock as she let the angel get wrapped in vines before getting crushed. The spear was completely through her arm, and she collapsed against the wall of her home as she whimpered in pain.

Another angel was going straight for her but was wrapped in Alastor's large hand as he crushed them. Now he was pissed, and now he would play, and the incoming angels were his toys. He fought them for hours, defending his injured lover, and as he stood before the bodies of his enemies, he curled around her as the plants began to form a dome around the domain. Slowly blocking the incoming angels from them, and any that got through were eaten alive or crushed by Alastor.

Once the dome was completed, he shifted back to normal and faced her as she had already done the same, her eyes lowered and slightly dull as blood flowed down her arm.
