Ain't My Damn to Give

Sorry it's at the beginning of the chapter but I just want to thank you guys for 480+ reads! Thank you to each and every one of you.

The morning arrived early, birds were chirping outside as the sun beamed perfectly in my room. It was a beautiful day, reluctant to leave the comfort of my bed and confront the challenges that lay ahead. But, we were interrogating Valeria later today, bringing a smirk to my face that I'm able to see the bruises I inflicted upon her face.

I sat up in bed, recollecting the events that occurred last night. Ghost left without a trace, leaving me to question whether my actions caused him to leave or not. Each time he said my name without fail or even a slight hint of hesitation. It wasn't sergeant or Sloan.

Did he really mean to say it or did it just slip out? It wasn't like him to just say my name out of the blue.

I had cleaned myself up after what we did, coming back to an empty bed. I didn't know what to expect but part of me missed his presence.

I groaned as I got out of bed, wincing slightly with the pain between my legs. I didn't realize I was going to be hurting that bad. I felt compelled to go and find him and question why he left so abruptly, but I also didn't want to annoy him.

My legs took me out to the common room where we drank last night, rolling up the waistband on my sweatpants so they didn't drag on the floor.

I noticed Soap sitting on the couch, rubbing his temples with his elbows on his knees.

I jumped next to him, resting on the couch. "Wow, now I'm the one that can make fun of you for looking like shit in the morning."

He chuckled, but stopped abruptly as he rubbed his head. "Shut up, I feel like shite."

I left the couch taking two water bottles from the fridge, grabbing one for myself and Soap. It was helpful that they had Ibuprofen here too. "Here, this should help."

Soap grabbed the bottle from my hand, tossing back the ibuprofen and water as he sat back in the chair closing his eyes.

My curiosity deepened. "Where is everybody?"

He pointed down the hall, not really wanting to talk in his state. "Ghost and Graves are working out, and Alejandro went to his ranch to sort some stuff out. Said we can wait around for a bit until we interrogate Valeria."

I nodded, taking a sip of my water. Part of me wanted to go and find Ghost, but the other half was telling me not to. I wish I had someone to talk to about this like a close friend, but I was surrounded by testosterone. I couldn't talk to the guys, it would risk my reputation and Ghosts'.

Soap found a comfy spot on the couch, resting his body as his feet sprawled out on my legs. "So, I know I passed out, but what did you guys do last night?" His voice sounded demanding, as if he already knew what I had done, but yet remained curious.

My breathing stopped. What if he heard us? Did he go to the bathroom in the middle of the night and pass by our room? Oh god.

I fidgeted with the bottle cap in my hands. "Oh, um we drank a bit and then went to bed. Nothing really eventful happened after you passed out. I was super tired last night too."

Soap's demeanor changed. I didn't know if it was his hangover talking or his emotions. He seemed to be quiet after our little conversation. I was going to get up, but I heard footsteps coming from the hallway rather quickly.

The door was pushed open in a fit of rage, my head instinctively turned towards the noise. Graves was holding his knuckle and Ghost's eyebrow was bloody.
