Deep End

The air around me was suffocating, I couldn't breathe from the realization that my final moments were approaching. The knife in my hand was my only hope at life, but I knew it wouldn't save me. All good things must come to an end.

As the seconds passed, the grip on my knife became stronger. Their footsteps closed in on me. I acted fast, jumping out from my position and swinging my knife but he caught it.

"Hattie, it's me. Calm down, be quiet."

I heard the familiar Scottish accent from underneath his mask. I sighed in relief, dropping my arm and placing the knife back in its holster.

"I could've killed you. You should've spoken sooner, dumbass." He chuckled, placing his hand on my shoulder. "Man, you really fucked that guy up, didn't you?"

I looked back at the gruesome murder behind me, his lifeless eyes staring at the ground.

"Yeah, he was getting a little too touchy for my liking."

He smirked, Alejandro came up from behind Soap, notifying him that they needed to get Diego's keycard before they're caught. "Stay safe Hattie."

"I will. You guys too." I watched as they left my side, disappearing into the other rooms, moving discreetly past the guards.

The air was tense, the swift movements of Soap and Alejandro caught my eye. They must've been searching every single room top to bottom trying to find any sort of information before they reached Diego's room.

Soap spoke over the comms. "Found Diego's computer, we're going to try and hack it, see what he's been hiding."

Voices caught my attention as the guards from downstairs were talking amongst themselves. It didn't seem like a normal conversation, some were yelling and I knew that wasn't good. If I got caught by multiple guards, it wouldn't end well for me.

I quickly thought of an idea, it was insane, but it might save my life.

"Ghost, I need you up here. Something's about to go down."

"I can't Sloan, you know that. I'm on overwatch, I can't leave my position."

"I'm not asking you Ghost. I'm telling you. It's either you come and help or I die. Soap and Alejandro are busy."

Graves spoke over the comms, informing Ghost they had it under control. "We got it, go inside and help her out."

He never spoke after that, hoping he understood my urgency for him to come and be with me. I turned my head to the loud noises from the first floor, knowing any moment they could come upstairs and find the dead guard. I needed Ghost, and I needed him now.

Loud footsteps caught my attention. My body tensed, but as we met eyes my body relaxed, seeing the masked man quickly walking towards me.

"I hope there's a damn good reason you made me leave my spot." He angrily voiced.

There was no time to react, I ran to another table away from the dead guard, and quickly sat on the edge of the countertop, pulling Ghost with me.
