"Are you feeling okay?" Xavier stood next to Satya, his left hand gently caressing her arm

"Are you feeling okay?" Xavier stood next to Satya, his left hand gently caressing her arm.

She looked fragile, her arms wrapped in white bandages, and various wires snaked around her body, connected to beeping machines that filled the sterile room with a constant hum. Her face was unnaturally pale, almost ghostly.

Satya Devi had never looked this broken.

Stupid love had turned everything upside down for her; heartbreak was a savage beast.

She didn't answer. Her lips were sealed under the oxygen mask, her eyelids barely staying open. Her eyes—dark, hollow—spoke of sleepless nights and an exhaustion he couldn't fathom.

"Really, Satya?" His voice grew bitter. "You thought you could just leave Dhanya alone like that?" He sneered, disappointment dripping from his words. "I was an idiot to think you'd care more for your sister."

He watched as tears pooled in her eyes, their weight almost unbearable.

"You were going to die for what?" he continued. "For that guy who never stood by you? For the child who was never born, the baby you aborted?"

Her lips trembled, but Xavier needed her to hear it. He wanted her to face the painful truth.

"I'll never understand your pain, Satya," he said, his voice softening slightly as he took her hand. "But one thing's for sure—you're not the type of woman who forgets her own worth."

He took a deep breath, his frustration and helplessness mixing. "Don't get me wrong, this... this is unbelievable. I would've helped you, Satya. You're young, and hell... you didn't have to face this alone."

Sobbing, she whispered, "I'm sorry, Xav."

"No," he snapped, shaking his head. "Don't pull that on me. You hid yourself from me. I would've been here for you. You didn't have to fight all this alone. Why didn't you let me help?"

Her tears were silent, but they flooded her eyes. He wiped them away gently, his thumb brushing over her damp skin. Pressing a soft kiss to her forehead, he murmured, "Don't you ever, ever do this to yourself again. It kills me to see the woman who stood by me through thick and thin—the woman who helped me heal—lying in a hospital bed because she didn't let me share the weight of it all."

Her hand gripped him tightly as she cried silently.
