14 • Unexpected rematch

Our supposedly normal day hasn't exactly started off normal.

There was the incident with the extremist fan and now we have another transfer to worry about.

I'd ask about the odds of another transfer being a supernatural, but the odds of getting another suspicious transfer with all that's going on is honestly higher. With this guy here, I doubt Nico is going to relax now. In fact, for the whole time Adrien has been here, I haven't seen Nico not staring at him.

Curiosity winning me over, I spoke, "Nico?"

"Shh."

....He shushed me? He didn't care about those two vampires hearing us, but he does with this guy? What's different about him?

I glanced at Adiren, and in that moment, Adrien glanced back at us. His eyes connecting with mine again and moving to Nico. He smirked.

Is he trying to taunt him?

The snap of a pencil from behind me let me know that the taunt was pretty effective.

The rest of the period went by with a tense atmosphere. Afterwards, me and Nico made it to our second period, the devils creation, math.

I had never been very good at math, even when Amber tutored me. I always ended up barely passing. I wonder how I'll get by now that she's not here for who knows how long.

"That new transfer is dangerous. Incomparably so to the ones you've seen." Nico suddenly spoke. "I'm not completely sure why him or his sister are here, but it's probably for the key if I had to guess."

"You know them?" Nico fell silent upon hearing my question. That, however, was still an answer. "Who are they?"

"They're powerful supernaturals with a strong backing. Unless they break any laws, we can't do anything to them."

Laws?

"What do you mean by 'laws'? And what kind of backing?"

"....Not at all supernaturals are hunted down." He reluctantly informed. "We only hunt down the ones that break any of the agreed upon laws. If they don't, then we aren't allowed to harm them. Especially ones with big names in the supernatural world."

So there are "good" supernaturals?

"And the two new transfers are big names?"

"Very." He grimaced.

He's... shaken.

I'm not sure if he's actually scared, seeing as how it's Nico, but he's definitely more on edge than before.

Suddenly there was a knock on the classroom door.

The teacher let out a sigh before getting up and walking to the door to open it.

"What is it?" He asked with an annoyed tone.

Behind the door was a girl with dark skin, beautiful green eyes and black hair that reached her shoulders.

"I'm sorry I'm late! I'm new here and got a little lost hehe...."

"Ah, another transfer. This ought to be a world record."

The teacher let her in and allowed her to introduce herself.

"Hello there everyone! I'm Kendall Steelwood, nice to meet you!"

....Steelwood?

She continued, "I hope you treat me and my brother well."

She made her way to one of the empty seats in the back of the classroom after her introduction. Oddly enough, unlike her brother, she didn't even glance at me or Nico.
