Steve And Crystal Go To The Police Station

Chapter 16

When they finally reached the police station, Crystal tells Steve,

"I don't think I can do this. I'm too afraid that they will put me in jail."

Steve said, "No they won't because I won't let them."

Steve and Crystal walked into the police station. Then Steve tells one of the officers that they wanted to talk to the captain. So, the officer went to get the captain. When the captain walked out of his office, he saw Steve and Crystal standing there. Captain Williams asked Steve what he could do for them. Steve said,

"We need to talk to you about something."

Captain Williams tells Steve and Crystal, "Come with me to my office so we can talk."

So, Steve, Crystal and Captain Williams went to the captain's office. Captain William asked Steve and Crystal to have a seat.

Captain Willimas asks, Steve:

" What can I do for you, Steve?"

Steve looks at Crystal and she nods her head yes. So, Steve begins to tell the captain the whole story.

Steve starts to explain to the captain, "You see Captain Williams, I know that there are a lot of unsolved thefts in the city."

Captain Williams said, "Yes, there are a few that seem to be unexplained but I figure since we picked up those thugs at that cabin the other night that all of those thefts can be explained now."

Crystal drops her head and Steve looks over at her. He knew that this was going to be hard on her but he hoped that the captain would understand. Captain Williams just looked at Steve and Crystal. Captain Williams noticed how they were looking at each other. Captain Williams asked Steve,

"Is there something wrong Steve"

Steve said, "Yes, in a way there is something wrong but I think if you would hear us out then everything will ok."

Captain Williams asked, "What is it Steve?"

Steve took a deep breath and said, "I know who took all of those other things that couldn't be explained."

Captain Williams asks, "You do? Who is it?"

Steve looked over at Crystal and she nodded her head yes.

Steve finally said, "It was......Crystal."

Captain Williams said, "Crystal? You must be mistaken Steve."

Steve said, "No, I'm afraid that I'm not. It's true."

The captain was dumbfounded. He couldn't believe what Steve was telling him. Captain Williams looked over at Crystal and said,

"Is it true, Crystal?"

Crystal raised her head up and answers,

"Yes it's true, Captain Williams."

Captain Wiliams stood up and walked around and leaned against

his desk so that he was standing in front of Steve and Crystal.

Captain Williams asked them, "Why haven't you told me all of this before now?"

Steve said, "Crystal was too ashamed and scared to talk to you about this. She was also afraid of going to jail but since we will be getting married soon, she wanted to come clean on everything."

Captain Williams looked at Crystal and asked, "Why did you do it?"

Crystal said, "I lost both of my parents were killed in a robbery. I was left alone to fend for myself. So, I started to do the very same thing that took my parents from me in order to survive. I didn't know how wrong I was until I met Steve. He told me that I had to give all of that up and he would stand by my side and help me through it. When Spike shot me, I could see my whole life flash before my very eyes and it scared me. I wasn't ready to die yet. I'm truly sorry for what I did. I know I was wrong but I couldn't see any other way to survive. You will find all of the things that were taken are in my apartment. Unfortunately, I don't have all of the money that was taken. I used some of it to pay my rent on the apartment."

Captain Williams folded his arms across his chest then lets out a big sigh. Then he looks at Crystal and said,

"Crystal, "

Crystal said, "Yes, captain."

Captain William continued, "Crystal, I understand why you did it but nonetheless, it was still a crime, and I could put you in jail right now."

Crystal drops her and holds on to Steve's hand tightly. Captain Williams watched Crystal as she started crying and holding on to Steve's hand for dear life.

Captain Williams said, "Crystal."

Crystal looks up at the captain with tears in her eyes.

Captain Williams went on, "Crystal, as I said I could put you under arrest right now........but I won't."

Crystal's eyes got a little brighter and asked,

"Captain Williams, you are not going to arrest me?"

Captain Williams said, "No, I'm not.....providing that you do community work."

Crystal asked, "What kind of community work, Captain Williams."

Captain Williams said, "I need someone to work at our local daycare helping the teacher that works there. This person will be responsible for making sure that the children are fed, and making sure that the children don't get into anything, help the teacher with their assignments and other things. Is that something that you would like to do, Crystal?"

Crystal said, "Yes, I would be happy to do it, Captain Williams."

Captain Williams asked Crystal, "When can you start?"

Crystal said, "Anytime you want me to."

Captain Wiliams smiles at Crystal then asks, "Can you start tomorrow?"

Crystal answered, "Yes, Captain Williams,"

Captain Williams smiled at Crystal and said, "Very good, I will tell my wife that you will be in the morning to start working."

Crystal said, "Your wife?"

Captain Williams replied, "Yes, my wife Sherry owns the daycare and she has been needing help with the children that she cares for."

Steve said, "Crystal, that's great you have a job working for Captain Williams' wife. Plus the captain isn't going to arrest you. You're free from your old life and you can start your new one with me."

Crystal said, "Yes, I know I can't believe it. Thank you so much Captain Williams."

Captain Williams said, "You are quite welcome. I hope that you and Steve will have a happy marriage."

Steve and Crystal both said, "Thank you."

Captain Williams said, "Now you two get out of here and enjoy your life."

With that Steve and Crystal left the police station and went to Steve's apartment.
