Chapter 28

Steve and Bucky were already in place, which was in front of the preacher. Everyone was waiting for the bride. At last Nat started her walk down the aisle to stand on Crystal's right side. Then the bridal march started to play and everyone stood up so they could see Crystal when she walked down the aisle. Tony and Crystal were getting ready to walk down the aisle, Crystal tells Tony, "I'm so nervous."

Tony said, "There's no need to be nervous. Steve loves you and that's all that matters. So, let's go and meet your future husband. OK?"

Crystal shook her head yes. So, she and Tony started their walk down the aisle. Bucky elbowed Steve and said,

"Look buddy. Here she comes."

Steve looked up to see Crystal and Tony walking down the aisle. Bucky tells Steve, "She's beautiful buddy. You really lucked out with her." All Steve could do was nod his head yes.

When Tony and Crystal reached the preacher, the preacher asked,

"Who gives this woman away?"

Tony answers, "I do."

Tony kisses Crystal on the cheek then gives her hand to Steve.

Steve was holding Crystal's hand as they stood before the preacher waiting for the marriage vows to be said.

The preacher said,

"We are gathered here today to join this man and this woman in the bonds of holy matrimony.

Do you Steve Rogers take this woman to be your lawful wedded wife, to love, honor and cherish, in sickness and health and keep yourself for her till death do you apart?"

Steve looked into Crystal's eyes and answered, "I do."

The preacher then asked Crystal the same thing.

"Do you Crystal Harris take this man to be your lawful wedded husband, to love, honor and cherish, in sickness and health and keep yourself for him till death do you apart?"

Crystal looked into Steve's eyes and answered, "I do."

The preacher then asked for the rings and Bucky and Nat handed the rings to the preacher.

The preacher tells Steve,

"Take this ring and place it on Crystal's left hand and repeat after me, With this ring I thee wed."

Steve put the ring on Crysta's left hand and repeated.

"With this ring I thee wed."

The preacher tells Crystal,

"Take this ring and place it on Steve's left hand and repeat after me, with this ring I thee wed."

Crystal put the ring on Steve's left hand and repeated.

"With this ring I thee wed."

The preacher then said,

"If there is any one here who thinks these two should not be wed, then let it be known now."

Nobody said anything.

The preacher continued,

"By the power vested in me, I pronounce you man and wife. You may kiss your bride."

Steve and Crystal kissed for the first time as husband and wife. Everybody cheered for them as they went to their reception. Crystal asked Steve,

"Did you know that Tony was going to give me away?"

Steve answered, "No, I didn't. It surprised me too. The only thing I told him was that you lost your parents to a robbery."

Crystal said, "He did mention that you told him about my parents. So, I guess he took it upon himself to stand in place of my father. That was very sweet of him."

Steve said, "Yeah, I guess he can be."

Crystal tells Steve, "Nat told me that you and Tony don't get along very well. I still think it was nice of him to do all of the things that he did for us because he didn't have to do any of it. Especially escorting me down the aisle since he's not my father."

Steve answered, "Yeah, I guess you are right. I should be a little more grateful."

Tony walks up and says, "Can I kiss the bride?"

Crystal replies, "Of course you can."

So, Tony leaned over and kissed Crystal on the cheek. Crystal tells Tony,

"Thank you for all that you did for us. Especially escorting me down the aisle."

Tony said, "It was nothing. I was happy to do it. Maybe now since you are his wife you can mellow him out some."

Steve heard what Tony said, and replied,

"I don't need mellowing out. I'm just fine the way I am."

Tony said, "You see, he needs you to mellow him out."

Crystal was trying hard not to laugh at the two Avengers but it was not easy. Steve sees Crystal trying not to laugh at them, then he starts to laugh as well.Tony looks over at Crystal and sees her trying not to laugh which made Steve laugh at her. So, Tony started laughing too. Bucky came over to see what was so funny. Bucky asks Steve,

"What's so funny?"

Steve answered, "I don't know I saw Crystal trying not to laugh and it got me to laughing too. Then Tony started laughing. Steve asks Crystal.

"What was so funny?"

Crystal said with a smile on her face, "You and Tony fussing like little boys."

Steve looked at Crystal and then replied, "You mean you were laughing at your new husband?"

Crystal answered, "Yes, I guess."

Steve looked at Tony and said, "Do you believe that? She was laughing at us."

Tony answered, "Well, I guess that will teach us not to fuss in front of her."

After Steve and Crystal spent time with their guest and had their first dance as husband and wife, they excused themselves and went to their bedroom.
