♕°°♕ Genevieve POV ♕°°♕
6 am came early once again. I was up before that since I needed to make sure the girls in high school were up and then my twins. Lennox took over today with the twins while I waited for Leonhart. I get that Phoebe took the blame most likely since she did care about him, even if she said she didn't. But both of them messed up. Pheobe left Leo alone, and Alfonzo knows now, that he can't rely on her to stick with him. I only worry since he darts off when scared. The airport alone taught me not to wear heels when traveling with him.
Anyways, Leo pulled the fire alarm. It's a crime. A class four felony. Thankfully I was able to pay, which might I say wasn't cheap, to drop the charges. I've yet to tell Phoebe I paid off all her charges so when she is ready to stop acting out, she'll be able to go to art school without a record on her.
She started getting D's after mom and dad died. This is her way of acting out. She went to wearing all black and just giving up on her dreams of art school. She is too talented for that. I sighed as a knock came to my door. I looked up and saw Leonhart. I waved him in as I looked through the papers.
"Sit down, Leonhart." I stated, seeing him in new clothes finally. He still had wet hair dripping but his new clothes looked nice.
"I wa-"
"Don't speak please." I held my hand up and looked through the papers on my desk. I had the punishment written up early this morning.
"But I-"
"Leonhart." I looked up and he flinched back, lowering his gaze. "Look at me!" I demanded. He looked up but looked away as soon as he saw me looking at him. "One." I warned. I think I was used to my five-year-olds.... "TWO!" I snapped. He looked up as tears ran down his face. Great....his tears get to me faster than my own five-year-olds. I took in a deep breath. "Leonhart, what you did at the mall, that was a crime. The fact that you won't even tell anyone why you did it? That makes it even worse. I'm not happy that Phoebe got arrested for something you did."
He bit his lip, trying to hold his eye contact. I wasn't being as harsh as I was with the girls. He's....more sensitive and with reason. I held the paper out to him.
"After the testing, I want you to do these chores around the house and have Lennox or Devika check it right after. Once you get their signatures on all of these chores, come find me for your next punishment." I waited for his response.
✦⋆✦ Leonhart, age 13 ✦⋆✦
I sat, feeling like a crybaby. I really did try not to cry."Okay." I whispered, putting the paper in my new hoodie pocket. My new clothes fit well and I even smell so much nicer with the soap I was gotten.
"Alright, good. Leonhart." Genevieve spoke, standing up. "Let's have breakfast before testing, yeah?" Her tone was softer. I got up and quickly dried my face.
Making my way to the dining table, I sat between the monkey and the demon child. Lilly began to poke, tickle or lean against me. Maybe that's just how she says 'I love you' in a way. I was already getting used to it.
"Crybaby." I heard a small whisper from beside me. I glanced over at Phoebe. I noticed she had the bracelet on and smiled a little before I looked away.
"Why does it feel like Naomi and I are always out of the loop!" Zaria stated getting all eyes on her. Genevieve chuckled.
"By all means, you can be grounded a month and have punishments as well if you're so eager to get in this so-called loop." Genevieve gave Zaria a big smile, which she rolled her eyes in return.
"I think I'll pass," Zaria spoke, drinking her juice.
"You sure. Leonhart can drag you into shit if you hang around him." Phoebe chimed in. I froze with my fork in the eggs on my plate. I didn't dare look up.
"Phoebe, that's enough. You both are at fault for different reasons." Lennox spoke up this time.
"Yeah? Then why does it feel like since he got here, I've done nothing but get grounded, and yelled at way more than usual, and it's always something with around him!"
I looked at Phoebe now. Tears fell, but they were angry ones.
"You always have hateful things to say." I spoke, feeling my lip quiver. Dammit. I was too quick to cry over everything. No wonder she hates me.
"You're nothing but a crybaby!" She hissed back.
"Sometimes, it's better to keep your mouth shut and give the impression that you're smart, than to open it and show you're not."
Zaria busted out laughing. Valencia and Naomi covered their eyes, as in 'I'm not watching this' while Phoebe stood up, grabbing my hoodie.
"KNOCK IT OFF!" Genevieve yelled.
"You read comebacks on the internet for fun?" Phoebe hissed. "Cuz I know a few. But I'm not all talk." She dragged me away from the table.
"I SAID KNOCK IT OFF!" I heard chairs sliding from the table as more than one person got up.I kicked Phoebe in the knee, making her hiss in pain. I fought back for once, but only since I knew I couldn't truly hurt her like she could me. We were on the floor after she yanked on me and I yanked on her. I felt stupid as we really went down fighting.
Phoebe was yanked up by Alfonzo and Lennox grabbed me. Genevieve appeared and the sound of two loud smacks silenced the little ones from whining. Phoebe looked at Genevieve with hate. I looked at the ground, holding my cheek.
Did she....slap me?
"I've had enough of you two. I can't get more than the 3 to 4 hours of sleep due to you guys making a mess of things! Let me drink my damn coffee before you throw a damn fight in my dining room! Get out! Both of you!" Phoebe stormed off without a word. I shook in fear as I held my face. "Leonhart. I won't ask you again. Go wait outside for Devika to take you to testing."
On that note, I ran out of the dining room. I got outside and picked a random tree to sit under. I grabbed at the grass in anger, and I kicked the stupid tree. I laid on my back and now looked through the tree branches at the sky as the sun was already almost completely awake.
I'll never trust Genevieve. She said she'd never hurt me. A simple slap yeah, but it always starts with that. I know all too well. Kevin and Mary started with slaps. Then what seemed like normal spankings, till it moved to kicking, hitting, burning, and much much more.
"Leo, come along." Devika appeared and I jumped up from the tree. Getting into the car she picked out of who knows how many, since I swear I see new ones in the parking lot every day so far, she drove in silence.
Good. Quiet was good. If I really did make trouble for everyone, maybe I should just leave.
